Cumulative distribution of groundfish value in Alaska, British Columbia, and the U.S. West Coast. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The ex-vessel price of each stock is multiplied by the stock's total catch, total allowable catch (TAC), or allowable biological catch (ABC). Values represent recent 5-year means, and stocks are ranked within each region by catch value.

Inhibition of KDEL Receptors Remodels the Tumor Microenvironment for T Cell Independent Tumor Regression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inhibition of KDELR2 in a small fraction of tumor cells generates sustainable immunogenic cell death conditions within the tumor microenvironment. These conditions promote the regression of tumors in a T cell independent manner. During regression, macrophages prime T cells that subsequently provide systemic protection against recurrence. The potency of

A Review of Failure Modes and Safety Strategies of Lithium‐Ion Batteries from Materials to Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A cascade‐aware framework is presented for lithium‐ion battery safety, linking thermal runaway initiation, acceleration, runaway reaction, and propagation with material‐, cell/pack‐, and system‐level interventions. By integrating failure mechanisms, quantitative safety indicators, and staged interception strategies, this review highlights how safer ...

From Chatbots to Co‐Scientists: The Impact of Knowledge‐Generating AI (AI 4.0) on Healthcare and Research

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This perspective contrasts the historical, linear progression of early AI with the dynamic, iterative nature of AI 4.0; and it describes the real‐world medical applications and the necessary evolution of laboratory infrastructure brought about by AI 4.0.

Capacity Output and Possibility of Cost Reduction: Fishery management in Japan [PDF]

open access: yes
Japan's fishery harvest peaked in the late 1980s. Providing individually specific catch shares of the Total Allowable Catch (TAC) to each fisherman is the key to avoid the race for fish.

Prediction of Structural Stability of Layered Oxide Cathode Materials: Combination of Machine Learning and Ab Initio Thermodynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we developed a phase‐stability predictor by combining machine learning and ab initio thermodynamics approaches, and identified the key factors determining the favorable phase for a given composition. Specifically, a lower TM ionic potential, higher Na content, and higher mixing entropy favor the O3 phase.

Commercial vs. survey data in length-based stock assessment: insights from Turkish crayfish fisheries

open access: yesAquatic Living Resources
In length-based stock assessments for data-poor fisheries, commercial fishing data is often used due to its cost-effectiveness and accessibility. However, factors such as gear selectivity, seasonal closures, minimum conservation reference size (MCRS ...

Exploring different Total Allowable Catch options to manage Indonesia's demersal fisheries [PDF]

open access: yes
Indonesia has replaced its fixed Total Allowable Catch (TAC) policy of 0.8 Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY). TACs are now set at 0.9 EMSY (Effort at maximum sustainable yield) for healthy stock, 0.7 EMSY for moderately exploited stock, and 0.5 EMSY for ...

Ban Glyphosate—Does It Affect the Swedish Farmers' Willingness to Grow Cover Crops?

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The cultivation of cover crops is one of the new Eco‐scheme practices introduced in Sweden. This study examines how the design of policy attributes of these schemes influences farmers' willingness to grow cover crops on arable land, with particular focus on the potential impact of a glyphosate ban.

Keeping Pace or Falling Behind? The Depth of Latin American Trade Agreements

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article examines whether Latin American countries are keeping pace with global trends in trade agreement depth or falling behind. Using 681 agreements (1970–2019), we develop the Depth Index of Trade Agreements (DITA) to weight provisions endogenously through factor analysis based on co‐occurrence patterns.
