Methods for substituting onsite ambient ultraviolet radiation measurements for personal exposure studies

Three methods for substituting on‐site ambient ultraviolet radiation measurements for personal exposure measurements were investigated. Assuming spatial persistency of measurements from high‐grade instruments delivers lowest uncertainties up to distances of 82 km.

Scaffold hopping strategy used to develop chalcones structure‐related to the avobenzone tautomer. Positive aspects of 2‐hydroxychalcones are highlighted. Abstract Chalcones are α,β‐unsaturated ketones with extended π‐conjugation, making them promising scaffolds for the development of organic UV filters.

Herbicide residues in soil disrupt plant–insect signalling, reducing the effectiveness of biological pest control. Abstract Plants under herbivore attack emit distinct blends of herbivore‐induced plant volatiles (HIPVs) which serve as signalling cues for predatory insects.
