Microscopic Insights into Magnetic Warping and Time‐Reversal Symmetry Breaking in Topological Surface States of Rare‐Earth‐Doped Bi2Te3

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic doping of the topological insulator Bi2Te3 with erbium adatoms induces out‐of‐plane magnetism and breaks time‐reversal symmetry, opening a Dirac gap and driving a Fermi surface transition from hexagonal to star‐of‐David geometry. Microscopy, spectroscopy, and magnetic dichroism reveal atomically controlled magnetic interactions that tailor the

Spatial, Seasonal, and Solar Cycle Variations of the Martian Total Electron Content (TEC): Is the TEC a Good Tracer for Atmospheric Cycles? [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, 2018
AbstractWe analyze 10 years of Mars Express total electron content (TEC) data from the Mars Advanced Radar for Subsurface and Ionospheric Sounding (MARSIS) instrument. We describe the spatial, seasonal, and solar cycle behavior of the Martian TEC. Due to orbit evolution, data come mainly from the evening, dusk terminator and postdusk nightside.

2D Co‐Mo‐Hydroxide‐Based Multifunctional Material for the Development of H2‐Based Clean Energy Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
2D α‐Co(OH)2 interleaved with Mo species displays an appealing dual functionality for the production and use of green hydrogen.Mo incorporation greatly benefits the electrochemical behaviour in Oxygen Evolution Reaction for H2 production, while the magnetocaloric response at liquid H2 temperature paves the way for alternative cryogenic refrigerants ...

Atomistic Mechanisms Triggered by Joule Heating Effects in Metallic Cu‐Bi Nanowires for Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bi doped metallic Cu nanowires are promising for spintronics thanks to the stabilization of a giant spin Hall effect. However, heat resulting from current injection forces Bi to leave solution, forcing segregation into monoatomic decorations which evolve into coherent crystalline aggregates.

COFs on MOFs: Layer‐by‐Layer Synthesis of MOF@COF Nanoparticles with Synergistic Adsorption

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A layer‐by‐layer strategy enables the growth of crystalline covalent organic framework (COF) shells on metal–organic framework nanoparticles, creating core–shell structures with tunable porosity. Ordered interstitial mesopores are formed during shell growth, which are connected with the COF's intrinsic micropores, thereby enhancing water sorption. This

Attività solare, effetti ionosferici e servizi NRTK: quali connessioni?

open access: yesGEOmedia, 2012
Come noto anche dalle più recenti cronache dei quotidiani l’attività solare si trova in un periodo di rapida crescita, all’interno di un ciclo periodico della durata di 11 anni.

Ionospheric Total Electron Content (TEC) Anomalies Associated with Earthquakes through Karhunen-Loeve Transform (KLT)

open access: yesTerrestrial, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, 2010
This research uses eigenvalue characteristics of the Karhunen-Loéve Transform of ionosphereic total electron content (TEC) to investigate precursors for 12 earth quakes of Richter magnitude scale M ³ 5.0 in a local region of latitude 23.00 to 24.00°N and

One‐Dimensional Materials Supported in Two‐Dimensional Van der Waals Metal–Organic Frameworks with Optical Anisotropy Switching via Twist‐Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a molecular strategy to assemble one‐dimensional (1D) materials into two‐dimensional (2D) van der Waals metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). Crystals of [FeX(pzX)(bpy)] (X = Cl, F) form anisotropic 2D layers that can be mechanically exfoliated into thin sheets.

Variation of Total Electron Content [TEC] and Their Effect on GNSS over Akure, Nigeria

open access: yesApplied Physics Research, 2012
The effect of Space weather is usually linked to disturbances in the ionosphere (gradients in the Total electron content (TEC)). This has significant effect especially for GPS users causing degradation in range measurements, loss of lock by the receiver of the GPS signal. Knowledge of these TEC gradients is important to various GPS users.
