Bidirectional Process Prediction in the Laser‐Induced‐Graphene Production Using Blackbox Deep Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study shows that a lightweight blackbox neural network provides a practical, cost‐effective solution for bidirectional process prediction in laser‐induced graphene (LIG) fabrication. Achieving high predictive performance with minimal overhead, the approach democratizes machine learning (ML) for resource‐limited environments.

The Global Trends of Total Factor Productivity. Evidence from the Nonparametric Malmquist Index Approach [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper the Malmquist index of total factor productivity is applied to a sample of 87 countries observed over the period 1960-90. This index and the method needed to quantify it, the data envelopment analysis, has substantial advantages as compared

Biodegradable Wireless Soil Urea Sensor Using Metamaterial Perfect Absorber for Distributed Deployment in Precision Agriculture

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
In this study, we propose a biodegradable wireless soil urea sensor for precision agriculture. The sensor's electromagnetic response varies depending on the urea concentration, allowing the measurement of relative soil urea concentrations by analyzing the time‐transient electromagnetic response.

Data‐Efficient Electromagnetic Surrogate Solver Through Dissipative Relaxation Transfer Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Dissipative relaxation transfer learning (DIRTL) enables data‐efficient training of electromagnetic surrogate solvers by pretraining data generated with artificial material loss before fine‐tuning on target lossless data. The framework suppresses resonant outlier effects during early training, allowing effective adaptation to high‐amplitude resonances ...

Total Factor Productivity Revisited: A Dual Approach to Development Accounting [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper tackles a number of issues that are central to cross-country comparisons of productivity. We develop a “dual” method to compare levels of total factor productivity (TFP) across nations that relies on factor price data rather than the data on ...

The Future of Research in Cognitive Robotics: Foundation Models or Developmental Cognitive Models?

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Research in cognitive robotics founded on principles of developmental psychology and enactive cognitive science would yield what we seek in autonomous robots: the ability to perceive its environment, learn from experience, anticipate the outcome of events, act to pursue goals, and adapt to changing circumstances without resorting to training with ...
