Dijkstra’s algorithm-based ray tracing method for total focusing method imaging of CFRP laminates

Composite Structures, 2019
Abstract Accurate determination of ultrasonic travel time from a start point to an end point with known positions is fundamental to the application of total focusing method (TFM) to ultrasonic array imaging. However, this is particularly challenging for CFRP laminates whose wave propagation is complex due to material anisotropy and refractive ply ...

Total Focusing Method With Virtual Sources in the Presence of Unknown Geometry Interfaces

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, 2016
Auto-focused virtual source imaging (AVSI) has been recently presented as an alternative method for synthetic aperture focusing through arbitrarily shaped interfaces with arrays. This paper extends the AVSI concept to the case of the total focusing method (TFM-AVSI) using several virtual receivers for each virtual source.

The post-processing of ultrasonic array data using the total focusing method

Insight - Non-Destructive Testing and Condition Monitoring, 2004
The use of ultrasonic arrays for NDT has increased significantly in recent years. This is due to the flexibility of array systems which can be electronically configured to produce plane, focused, steered and steer-focusedbeams. In this way, one array transducer can do the job of many standard single-element transducers.

Application of the total focusing method for quantitative nondestructive testing of anisotropic welds with ultrasound

TM. Technisches Messen, 2020
In this paper, we report on the application of the ultrasonic Total Focusing Method for quantitative imaging of cracks in austenitic welds. Imaging inspection procedures provide more information than punctual measurements.

A multi-FPGA implementation of real-time reconstruction using Total Focusing Method

2013 IEEE International Conference on Cyber Technology in Automation, Control and Intelligent Systems, 2013
Total Focusing Method (TFM) ultrasound imaging has many advantages in terms of flexibility and accuracy in comparison with traditional imaging techniques. However, one major drawback is the high number of data acquisition and computing requirements for this imaging technique.

Implementation of total focusing method for phased array ultrasonic imaging on FPGA

SPIE Proceedings, 2015
This paper describes a multi-FPGA imaging system dedicated for the real-time imaging using the Total Focusing Method (TFM) and Full Matrix Capture (FMC). The system was entirely described using Verilog HDL language and implemented on Altera Stratix IV GX FPGA development board.

Total focusing method for non destructive evaluation: Toward real-time imaging systems

2013 IEEE 56th International Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems (MWSCAS), 2013
This paper describes a dedicated architecture for real-time imaging using the Total Focusing Method (TFM) and an advanced acquisition technique called the Full Matrix Capture (FMC). The architecture was entirely described using VHDL language and implemented on a V5FX70T Xilinx FPGA for the control part and a V5SX95T Xilinx FPGA for the acquisition part.
