Heart‐On‐a‐Chip with Integrated Ultrasoft Mechanosensors for Continuous Measurement of Cell‐ and Tissue‐Scale Contractile Stresses

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 9, 12 February 2026.
We present a heart‐on‐a‐chip platform embedded with ultrasoft mechanosensors for real‐time, multi‐scale stress mapping in engineered cardiac tissues. The system enables simultaneous quantification of local cell‐generated stresses and global tissue contractile forces.

FRAM for systemic accident analysis: a matrix representation of functional resonance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Due to the inherent complexity of nowadays Air Traffic Management (ATM) system, standard methods looking at an event as a linear sequence of failures might become inappropriate.

Traction force generation in Plasmodium sporozoites is modulated by a surface adhesin

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, Volume 301, Issue 2, Page 267-279, February 2026.
Abstract Plasmodium sporozoites are the highly polarised and motile forms of the malaria parasite transmitted by mosquitoes to the vertebrate hosts. Sporozoites use myosin motors to generate retrograde flow of actin filaments. These are linked to plasma membrane spanning adhesins, which in turn bind to the extracellular environment, resulting in ...

Robust Beamforming for Ultrasonic Imaging using Wavelet-based Thresholding and Coherence Weighting [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Industrial Electronics, Control and Optimization
The delay-and-sum (DS) beamforming and delay-weight-and-sum (DWS) beamforming are primary methods in ultrasonic imaging with phased arrays. Total focusing method (TFM) and Minimum Variance (MV) based adaptive beamforming are well-known methods within DS ...

Symmetry Enhanced Unconventional Spin Current Anisotropy in a Collinear Antiferromagnet

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 3, 8 January 2026.
Spin‐orbit torques (SOTs) are investigated in epitaxial FeSn, a topological antiferromagnet with kagome lattice symmetry. Combining experimental and theoretical approaches, the study identifies a six‐fold conventional damping‐like spin‐orbit torque (DL SOT), along with the coexistence of both six‐fold and uniaxial unconventional field‐like torque (FL ...

Bio‐Responsive Hydrogel for Targeted on‐Demand Release of a Phage Cocktail for Treatment of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 2, 5 January 2026.
This study presents an injectable hydrogel that responds to Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection by releasing a dual‐phage cocktail on demand. The system degrades selectively in infected wounds, enhances phage localization and stability, and shows potent antibiofilm activity and biocompatibility in an ex vivo human skin model—offering a promising strategy ...

Pulmonary‐Targeted Nanoparticles Interrupt the Malignant Mechanical and Biochemical Signaling Crosstalk for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 5, 27 January 2026.
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) progression is driven by TGF‐β induced biochemical signals and mechanical signals from increased ECM stiffness. Pulmonary‐targeted VB‐RT NPs not only eliminate excessive ROS and penetrate the dense ECM collagen barrier via NO release, but also simultaneously interrupt the persistent malignant between mechanical and ...

A review of advances in pixel detectors for experiments with high rate and radiation

open access: yes, 2018
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) experiments ATLAS and CMS have established hybrid pixel detectors as the instrument of choice for particle tracking and vertexing in high rate and radiation environments, as they operate close to the LHC interaction points.

HDPE pipe butt fusion joint defects ultrasonic automatic detection via phase coherence TFM imaging and improved YOLOX model

open access: yesPolymer Testing
Detection of butt fusion joints is essential for in-service high-density polyethylene (HDPE) natural gas pipe operating safety. A directivity-compensated circular coherence factor weighted total focusing method (D-CCF-TFM) algorithm is presented to solve

High-density polyethylene buried natural gas pipe butt fusion joint defects automatic detection via total focusing method and deep learning [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences
This paper presents a defect detection method for butt fusion joints of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes based on deep learning, which aims to achieve both high accuracy and rapid detection.
