Restoration of Functional Oral Intake After Proximal Gastrectomy Using an Individualized Risk‐Adapted Multidisciplinary Approach: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Dental rehabilitation restored functional oral intake after gastrectomy, followed by long‐term improvement in BMI and stabilization of hematologic, iron‐status, and metabolic parameters. A risk‐adapted multidisciplinary approach combining medical optimization and oral rehabilitation may benefit selected patients with post‐gastrectomy ...

Piezo1 in digestive homeostasis and disease: Barrier function, immune signalling, cellular injury and metabolism

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
Piezo1 functions as a context‐dependent mechanotransduction node linking mechanical cues to inflammation, tissue remodelling and metabolic regulation in digestive homeostasis and disease. In epithelial, immune, stromal and endocrine cells, Piezo1‐mediated Ca2+ signalling contributes to barrier and mucus homeostasis, epithelial renewal and repair ...

Comparative Cardiovascular Outcomes of GLP‐1 Receptor Agonists Versus Bariatric Surgery: A Systematic Review and Network Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
BS demonstrated more consistent and statistically significant reductions in all cardiovascular outcomes compared to GLP‐1RAs, which showed more variable efficacy, particularly for HF and MI. Nevertheless, GLP‐1RAs remain effective evidence‐based alternatives for cardiovascular risk reduction in patients who are not candidates for surgery.

Glucose and Loss of Control Eating: Evidence From Naturalistic Assessment After Roux‐en‐Y Gastric Bypass

open access: yesEuropean Eating Disorders Review, Volume 34, Issue 5, Page 1304-1313, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective While loss of control (LOC) eating is associated with poor outcomes following metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS), the mechanisms driving it are less understood. This study used momentary, naturalistic data to examine glucose as a biological correlate of LOC eating after Roux‐en‐Y gastric bypass (RYGB).

Bile acid metabolism and signaling in human and animal health: A One Health perspective

open access: yesiMetaOmics, Volume 3, Issue 3, September 2026.
Bile acids maintain host homeostasis through enterohepatic circulation, microbial transformation, and bile acid receptor signaling, thereby regulating glucose and lipid metabolism, intestinal barrier integrity, and immunity. These effects support human disease intervention and health‐oriented animal production, reducing drug dependence and residue ...
