Influence of Voltage Variation on the Measurement of Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) by AMI Smart Electricity Meters

2021 13th International Conference on Measurement, 2021
Power quality parameters specified in standards IEC 61000–4–30 and EN 50160 are used to power quality evaluation in the power grid. These parameters are, among others higher harmonics and the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). Measurement and recording of power quality parameters is carried out mainly by power quality analyzers.

Reduction of line-current total harmonic distortion (THD) of a Valley Fill electronic ballast

2011 International Conference on Electronic Devices, Systems and Applications (ICEDSA), 2011
This paper presents a modified Valley-Fill (VF) ballast circuit to combine with a current fed resonant inverter as the power circuit for a high power factor VF electronic ballast. The original VF circuit permit input current conduction from 30° to 150°, and then from 210° to 330°.

Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) Estimation Technique Based on Power Concept for Smart Power Meters

2019 IEEE PES Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference (APPEEC), 2019
This paper proposes a time-domain total harmonic distortion (THD) estimation technique for smart power meters with significant reduction of calculation steps and high accuracy. In addition, the potential advantage of the proposed THD estimation technique is that the active and reactive power components obtained during the calculation can be further ...

A Modified Valley Fill Electronic Ballast Having a Current Source Resonant Inverter With Improved Line-Current Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), High Power Factor, and Low Lamp Crest Factor

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2008
In this paper, a modified valley fill (VF) circuit is employed to combine with a current-fed resonant inverter as a passive high power factor (PF) electronic ballast. A conventional VF circuit limits the line current to conduct when the conduction angles are: 30deg les omegat les 150deg and 210deg les omegat les 330deg during the line period, which ...
