A simple and cost-effective solution to reduce the passive filter terminal voltage total harmonic distortion (THD) is outlined. A modified synchronous reference frame (SRF) based controller for the series active filter allows injection of a controlled percentage of the higher harmonic load currents into the supply, in compliance with the IEEE 519 ...

Reduction of line-current total harmonic distortion (THD) of a Valley Fill electronic ballast
This paper presents a modified Valley-Fill (VF) ballast circuit to combine with a current fed resonant inverter as the power circuit for a high power factor VF electronic ballast. The original VF circuit permit input current conduction from 30° to 150°, and then from 210° to 330°.

In this paper, we present an approach for Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC), drying out and flooding diagnosis. The present approach is signal-processing-based pattern recognition. The voltage signal is processed by a Fast Fourier Transform, in order to carry out a frequency analysis and to calculate the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD ...

The non linear characteristic of transformer magnetizing core leads more current/voltage signal distortion in the event of system disturbance/fault. The harmonic penetration in the current signal depends of the transformer core, characteristic of load and abnormal conditions.

Power quality parameters specified in standards IEC 61000–4–30 and EN 50160 are used to power quality evaluation in the power grid. These parameters are, among others higher harmonics and the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). Measurement and recording of power quality parameters is carried out mainly by power quality analyzers.

A Cost Effective Method of Reducing Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) in Single-Phase Boost Rectifier
2007 7th International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2007Due to its simplicity, the discontinuous conduction mode boost rectifier is potentially the least expensive active line-harmonics reducing circuit. The line current however, shows considerable distortion when the peak input voltage is close to the output voltage. This paper proposes a simple, low-cost method to reduce the line harmonics.

The electric motor has replaced motor fuel as the main mover of the equipment. One of them is the use of a three-phase induction motor in the industrial sector. Equipment in an industry requires many speed controllers in operation. The induction motor speed can be changed by changing the number of poles, changing the stator voltage, and changing the ...

A nonlinear system determines the quality of power under closed and open control. An issue with power is overcome by a three-phase DC/AC embedded DC/DC ZETA converter with proposed Hysteresis Current Controller (HCC). In this proposed system, personal computers are operated in order to record harmonic generation.

A single phase transformerless semi-Z-source inverter topology is presented in this paper in order to incorporate distributed photovoltaic generators to the grid with reduced total harmonic distortion (THD) and DC current injection. These proposed inverter topologies are capable of achieving the sinusoidal output voltage by using only two active ...
