This paper discusses the design of a passive filter system for energy saving in Energy Saving Lamps (LHE) and Light Emitting Diode (LED), but for LHE and LED lamps for current Total Harmonic Distortion (THDi) that do not meet the standard. To reduce the current THD, it can be done by installing a single tune passive filter.””In this paper, we discuss ...

Modulation Technique Applied for THD Reduction in 3-level Flying Capacitor Multilevel Inverter
This paper introduces a modulation technique for a three-level flying capacitor multilevel inverter applied in THD reduction. The proposed modulation improves power quality, reducing the total harmonic distortion and combining the advantages of two ...

Introduction. To improve the power quality of a supply system, the total harmonic distortion (THD) is the most important parameter in the quantification of harmonics caused by nonlinear loads. In practice, it must be less than 5 %.

Every daily activity requires electrical energy. Electrical energy loads vary. Harmonic distortion is one of the results of current and voltage wave disturbances caused by non-linear loads, such as lamps, computers, and air conditioners, among others. This causes a decrease in the quality of electric power.

Schematic diagram of the whale optimization algorithm (WOA)–optimized fuzzy proportional–integral–derivative (PID) controller. The WOA is employed to dynamically tune the scaling factor expressions and fuzzy control parameters (a(e)a(e), a(ec)a(ec), βpβp, βiβi), as well as the initial PID gains (kp0kp0, ki0ki0), based on the error (ee) and its ...

Currently, people are increasingly using energy saving lamp (LHE) and LED because of their energy saving and low power consumption. But the use of LHE and LED in large quantities can reduce the quality of electric power. This is because LHE and LED are classified as non-linear loads which are a source of harmonic distortion for low-voltage power lines.

This study designs and simulates a capacitor‐supported dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) using Carrier PWM control to mitigate voltage sags, swells, and distortions in three‐phase distribution systems. The self‐supported DVR employs a DC‐link capacitor as an energy buffer, eliminating external storage needs. Control via Synchronous Reference Frame Theory (
