Outpatient Total Hip Arthroplasty
The Journal of Arthroplasty, 2010Patients younger than 65 years were studied to determine what percentage of patients would enroll in a study of outpatient total hip arthroplasty, its safety, and benefits of the program. Of 192 eligible patients, 69 (36%) enrolled, and 53 (77%) of these went home the same day of surgery.

Trunnionosis in Total Hip Arthroplasty
Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, 2017➤ The etiology of clinically relevant trunnion corrosion remains to be fully understood, but appears to be multifactorial with synergy among implant-based, surgeon-based, and patient-based factors.➤ Trunnion corrosion causing an adverse local tissue reaction (ALTR) typically manifests as delayed onset of groin, buttock, or ...

Dislocation in Total Hip Arthroplasties
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1980In a series of 1,443 total hip arthroplasties performed between 1970 and 1975, dislocation was the most frequent complication and its incidence was found to be increasing. Dislocatin was frequently associated with component malposition that the surgeon was not aware of at the time of surgery and was relatively frequent among less experienced surgeons ...

Robotic Total Hip Arthroplasty
Orthopedic Clinics of North America, 2014Modern total hip replacement is typically effective and durable, but early failures do occur. Component position influences functional outcome, durability, and risk of complications. Surgical robotics provides the detail-oriented surgeon with a robust tool to optimize the accuracy and precision of total hip arthroplasty, with the potential to minimize ...

Total Hip Arthroplasty in the Underweight
The Journal of Arthroplasty, 2008The outcomes of 20 patients diagnosed with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis with body mass index less than 18.5 (considered underweight) who received total hip arthroplasty at a single institution were reviewed. Surgical complications in the first 30 days after surgery included 1 prolonged surgical site drainage and 3 posterior dislocations.

Conservative Total Hip Arthroplasty
Orthopedic Clinics of North America, 1982Surface replacement arthroplasty of the hip is a relatively new procedure by orthopedic standards. The test of time is not yet far enough along to allow sound conclusions to be made, but the early results have been encouraging. Most of our failures occurred early in our experience, and our resulting have been steadily improving as our knowledge grows ...

Sonography in Total Hip Arthroplasty
Ultraschall in der Medizin - European Journal of Ultrasound, 2007The distance between the anterior surface of the neck of the prosthetic stem and the anterior joint capsule, the "capsular distance", is increased in total hip arthroplasty (THA) with synovitis. We evaluated the potential of ultrasonography (US) in measuring the "capsular distance" in THA hips one year after insertion. We compared the measurements of ...

Biomechanics of total hip arthroplasty
The Anatomical Record, 1999The biomechanics of the hip joint provide an understanding of the development, evolution, and treatment of many disabling conditions of this joint. The available methods of biomechanical analysis include in vitro studies, in vivo studies, and theoretical mathematic analyses.

Total hip replacement arthroplasty
Archiv fr Orthopdische und Unfall-Chirurgie, 1974A prospective study of 62 total hip replacements performed between February 1970 and December 1972 in 50 patients was carried out. The results were assessed according to the Asaf Harofe Hip Evaluation System. There were excellent and good results in 89% of hips.
