Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare but lethal malignancy with few reliable prognostic markers. FDG-PET metabolic parameters have been shown to predict survival in several cancers. The objective was to determine if metabolic tumor volume (MTV), total lesion glycolysis (TLG), and maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) could serve as prognostic ...

To investigate the relationship between functional tumour parameters measured during preoperative 18F-FDG PET/CT and clinical outcomes in patients with uterine carcinosarcoma. For patients with pathologically proven uterine carcinosarcoma, we determined the maximal and average standardized uptake values, cumulative total lesion glycolysis (TLG) and sum ...

[¹⁸F]fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) imaging has been employed as a non-invasive diagnostic tool for malignant tumors. Total lesion glycolysis (TLG) on FDG-PET is calculated by multiplying the mean standardized uptake value (SUVmean) by the tumor volume.

The standardized added metabolic activity (SAM) is a new marker of total lesion glycolysis that avoids partial volume effect (PVE) and thresholding. SAM is calculated by drawing a volume of interest (VOI(1)) around the tumour and a larger VOI (VOI(2)) around VOI(1). Subtracting the background activity in VOI(2)-VOI(1) from VOI(1) yields SAM.

This study compared the tumor burden and prognostic impact of total diffusion volume (tDV) and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) in the same patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM) simultaneously. We also examined the relationship between these imaging tumor volumes (TVs) and plasma cell (PC) TV in bone marrow (BM) specimens. We ...

Total lesion glycolysis as an IgG4-related disease activity marker
Modern Rheumatology, 20142-[18F]-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG-PET/CT) was reported to be useful for monitoring immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD); however, a quantitative FDG-PET/CT analysis such as total lesion glycolysis (TLG) has not yet been conducted.

Data available in patients suffering from squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, lung carcinoma, oesophageal carcinoma and gynaecological malignancies suggest that metabolic tumour volume and to a lesser extent total lesion glycolysis have the potential to become valuable in the imaging of human solid tumours as prognostic biomarkers for short ...

Benign adrenal lesions are prevalent in oncologic imaging and make metastatic disease diagnoses difficult. This study evaluates the diagnostic importance of metabolic, volumetric, and metabolovolumetric parameters measured by fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose (F-FDG) PET/CT in differentiating between benign and malignant adrenal lesions in cancer patients.
