Ossiculoplasty With Total Ossicular Replacement Prosthesis and Omega Connector

open access: yesOtology & Neurotology, 2011
The Omega Connector provides easy handling of the TORP. The short-term functional results were comparable to those achieved previously without the Omega Connector. The temporal bone measurement supports tolerance in connective position between the TORP and the Omega Connector.

Ear surgery techniques results on hearing threshold improvement

open access: yesJournal of Research in Medical Sciences, 2013
Background: Bone conduction (BC) threshold depression is not always by means of sensory neural hearing loss and sometimes it is an artifact caused by middle ear pathologies and ossicular chain problems.

Study on Recovery Strategy of Hearing Loss & SGN Regeneration Under Physical Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, February 3, 2025.
This paper systematically summarizes the development of existing hearing loss (HL) recovery strategies and the latest research of spiralganglion neurons (SGNs) regeneration under physical regulation. The challenges facing physically regulating SGNs are discussed, and the future development are prospected.

Coupled Finite Element Model of the Middle and Inner Ear as Virtual Test Environment for Stapes Surgery

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering, Volume 41, Issue 2, February 2025.
In order to evaluate the performance of middle‐ear prostheses, a coupled finite element (FE) model of the human ear was developed. The stapes was replaced with a stapes prosthesis to create a reconstructed ear model. The hearing performance of the reconstructed ear was investigated with different measures such as maximum basilar membrane displacement ...

EAONO/JOS, STAMCO, ChOLE & Potsic Staging of 271 Pediatric Cholesteatoma: Evidence‐Based Mod‐Pot Staging System

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 135, Issue 2, Page 908-919, February 2025.
We assess the EAONO/JOS, STAMCO, ChOLE, and Potsic cholesteatoma grading systems in a large pediatric cohort with at least 5‐year follow‐up. Based on evidence, we put forward a Mod‐Pot (modified Potsic) system which better predicts cholesteatoma recividism and auditory outcomes in the child.

The feasibility of endoscopic stapes surgery: A three‐dimensional planning method

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 10, Issue 1, February 2025.
The accuracy of a semi‐automatic algorithm in assessing the feasibility and complexity of endoscopic stapes surgery preoperatively was investigated. A preoperative planning model can assist ENT surgeons and improve their confidence. Abstract Objective The primary aim of this study was to investigate the accuracy of a semi‐automatic algorithm in ...

Bioactive Glass in Tissue Regeneration: Unveiling Recent Advances in Regenerative Strategies and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 2, January 15, 2025.
In this review, various regenerative strategies based on bioactive glass (BG) (e.g. application of BG dissolution products, surface functionalization of BG, loading of biochemical factor/gene in BG particles/nanoparticles, composite polymer‐BG scaffold, and BG‐induced production of extracellular vesicles) targeting different tissues/organs (e.g. muscle,

Function, Applicability, and Properties of a Novel Flexible Total Ossicular Replacement Prosthesis With a Silicone Coated Ball and Socket Joint

open access: yesOtology & Neurotology, 2018
Hypothesis: A total ossicular replacement prosthesis (TORP) with a silicone coated ball and socket joint (BSJ) is able to compensate pressure changes and therefore provide better sound transmission compared with rigid prostheses.
