Simple measures of ozone depletion in the polar stratosphere [PDF]
We investigate the extent to which quantities that are based on total column ozone are applicable as measures of ozone loss in the polar vortices. Such quantities have been used frequently in ozone assessments by the World Meteorological Organization (

Abstract Mycotoxins remain a persistent threat to the safety and quality of cereal grains and other agricultural products, and their impact on human health continues to raise global concerns. In many situations, the practices traditionally used to control these toxins are no longer sufficiently effective. They can be costly, difficult to implement on a

Vog: Using Volcanic Eruptions to Estimate the Health Costs of Particulates
The negative consequences of long‐term exposure to particulate pollution are well established but a number of studies find no effect of short‐term exposure on health outcomes. The high correlation of industrial pollutants complicates the estimation of the impact of individual pollutants on health.

Abstract BACKGROUND Maintaining the internal quality and functional properties of shell eggs during storage remains a critical challenge for the egg industry. Non‐thermal technologies such as ultrasound (US) and electrolyzed water (EW) have attracted attention due to their potential to enhance microbial safety and quality preservation.

Statistical evaluation of nylon chemical recycling through acidolysis
Sustainable PA6 recycling through acidolysis enabled temperature‐driven depolymerization, modeled by regression analysis. Recycled products successfully replaced up to 30% monomer while preserving PA6 chemical composition or crystalline structure. Abstract This study focuses on the sustainability of plastics reporting the recycling of polyamide (PA ...

Scaling turbulence drives the general circulation
The NOAA Gulfstream SP4, which deployed the GPS dropsondes over the NE Pacific Ocean as part of the Winter Storms Project during the January–March periods of 2004, 2005 and 2006. Abstract Statistical multifractal analysis of airborne and dropsonde observations is used to show that persistence of velocity after molecular collisions breaks the continuous

Stratospheric influence on tropical cyclone evolution
We developed a metric based on moist static energy to detect and quantify the intrusion of stratospheric air into the inner core of tropical cyclones. High‐resolution numerical simulations show that this stratospheric interaction forms warm anomalies (high‐level warm cores) in the upper troposphere.

Environmental Footprint of Diffuse Emissions in European Functional Urban Areas
ABSTRACT This paper quantifies the environmental footprint of diffuse air emissions across 776 European functional urban areas (FUAs) from 2005 to 2022 by coupling Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) gridded inventories with the Environmental Footprint (EF) 3.1 framework.

ABSTRACT Nitrogen (N) application creates negative externalities via nitrate (NO3−) leaching that threatens human health and the emission of nitrous oxide (N2O), a potent greenhouse gas. This study determines socially optimal nitrogen application rates (SONR) for corn and wheat by considering the social costs of both pollutants. The assessment includes
