Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Total Porosity Calculation by Using jPOR On The Carbonate Rocks of Taccipi Limestone

open access: yes, 2019
One of an effective and quickly method has been established to measure total porosity of the rocks. Macro file (jPOR.txt) for ImageJ is an utilises, which can be used on digital photomicrographs.

From Shear to Sound: Mechanics–Acoustics Mapping of TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) lattices are mapped across mechanical and acoustic performance, revealing that descriptors validated in compression fail under shear. First‐time comparison with trusses included. A transition from porous to resonance‐driven absorption emerges at 25% density.

In situ mixing of organic matter decreases hydraulic conductivity of denitrification walls in sand aquifers

open access: yes, 2008
In a previous study, a denitrification wall was constructed in a sand aquifer using sawdust as the carbon substrate. Ground water bypassed around this sawdust wall due to reduced hydraulic conductivity.

Effects of Tree Root Density on Soil Total Porosity and Non-Capillary Porosity Using a Ground-Penetrating Tree Radar Unit in Shanghai, China

open access: yes, 2018
To explore the relationship between arbor root density and corresponding physical soil properties (total porosity, non-capillary porosity, specific weight, bulk density, moisture content, and permeability), noninvasive methods such as Tree Radar Unit ...

Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

Influence of Uniaxial Tensile Cyclic Load on the Porosity of High Performance Concrete

open access: yes, 2011
The total porosity of the high performance concrete under cyclic loading was measured in this present paper. Results show that finite cycles of cyclic axial tensile load causes permanent damage to concrete, which can be measured after unloading.
