TOTAL POROSITY AND OPEN‐PORE POROSITY IN THE DRYING OF FRUITS
Journal of Food Science, 1980ABSTRACT A simple procedure has been implemented to measure porosity of apples as a function of moisture contents. The method has been applied to apples with change in moisture contents by conventional air drying. It is shown that the pores, which for biological reasons are open, i.e.

Predicting the total porosity of shale gas reservoirs
Petroleum Science and Technology, 2017ABSTRACTThe favorable zone with organic-rich shale reserve is the “sweet” in the exploration of shale gas, while the logging evaluation of reservoirs, to which the accurate assessment of total porosity is instrumental, is critical to seek this “sweet.” Taking the reservoirs in the Wufeng-Longmaxi Formation in Jiaoshiba region of Fuling, China as an ...

Influence of Waste Fibers on the Total Porosity of Cementitious Composites
16th International Conference on Durability of Building Materials and Components, 2023The amount of water is essential to explain the shrinkage process. It is determined by the water-cement ratio, but also by the moisture content. Water in hydrated cement paste occurs in various forms: chemically bound, interlayer, adsorbed, free water and water vapor. During cement hydration, the balance between various forms of water changes.

We present an inverse analysis of the conductive and radiative heat transfer problem in fibrous porous materials. The porosity and total heat transmission are simultaneously recovered in the finite-volume method and genetic algorithm scheme for both uniform and nonuniform porosity distributions.

Abstract A technique for the primary and secondary porosity estimation is proposed. This technique is based on a resistivity model of carbonate formations with double porosity and the analysis of numerous core data. The resistivity model consists of an isotropic conductive matrix with a primary porous system and inclusions, which ...

AbstractThe alite used in this investigation was synthesised from the stoichiometric mixture at 1550°C. The hardened alite pastes were made using initial water/alite ratios of 0.20, 0.30, 0.45 and 0.60. Degree of hydration, compressive strength and total porosity were estimated at various hydration time intervals of 0.5 h, 2 h, 6 h, 1 day, 3 days, 7 ...

Applying NMR Total and Effective Porosity to Formation Evaluation
SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1997Abstract The porosity of a reservoir and its water saturation fraction have long been at the heart of wireline and MWD log based formation evaluation. In many formations, however, the complexity of the mineralogy and the properties of the formation's conductivity have only permitted qualitative answers.

AbstractHardened blast‐furnace slag‐cement pastes were prepared from cements of different Blaine areas, and mixed with various water/cement ratios in the range 0.20–0.70. The pastes were cured for various periods ranging from 1 to 365 days, and the degree of hydration, total porosities, and compressive strengths were determined.

Abstract For 35 New Zealand soil samples of varied origin, estimates of total porosity and macro-porosity group were compared with measurements of these properties in an endeavour to judge the feasibility of making such estimates as part of the pedological field description.

Total porosity of high-pore-volume silicas by liquid adsorption
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1980Abstract This study examines some difficulties in determining the total porosity of silica catalysts by liquid adsorption. In the commonly used liquid titration method, high-pore-volume silicas exhibited a magnified sensitivity to the effects of surface tension and particle size.
