Individuals with Multi‐Joint Osteoarthritis Demonstrate Larger Longitudinal Declines in Frailty: Data from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Test the hypothesis that multi‐joint osteoarthritis would modify the relation between time and frailty progression, where more affected joints would lead to larger declines over 6‐years compared to those without osteoarthritis using data from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging.

A Supersonic Compressor Cascade Aerodynamic Design and Optimization Methodology with Curvature Control

open access: yesAerospace
Addressing the issue of boundary layer separation and flow instability caused by shock wave–boundary layer interaction in supersonic compressor cascades, this work presents a novel aerodynamic design and optimization method for supersonic cascades.

Effect of Blade Slot Positioning Close to Blade Root on the Performance of Highly Loaded Helium Compressor [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
The helium compressor has the inherent characteristics of a lower single-stage pressure ratio and a higher number of stages than an air compressor. The highly loaded design method effectively addressed the compressibility issue of the helium compressor ...

Beyond Visual Scoring: Computational CT‐analysis for HRCT based quantification of Interstitial Lung Disease in Inflammatory Rheumatic Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Interstitial lung disease (IRD‐ILD) is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with inflammatory rheumatic disorders (IRD). High‐resolution computed tomography (HRCT) is widely considered the gold standard for the non‐invasive assessment of ILD; however, its interpretation is constrained by substantial inter‐observer variability and ...

Numerical studies on fluid flow characteristics through different configurations of spiral casing

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2016
The design of optimum spiral casing configuration is a difficult task and a big challenge in the field of turbomachinery. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of fluid flow characteristics in a $ 360^\circ $ turn around spiral casing plays an ...

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Sensitivity investigation of a subsonic cascade performance to geometric deviations based on statistical method

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2020
This paper has established an evaluation system for the sensitivity analysis of cascade/compressor aerodynamic performance to geometric deviations. The system includes blade profile parameterization with non-uniform rational B-spline (NURBS), uniform ...
