Total Pressure Recovery of Flared Fan Nozzles Used as Inlets

Journal of Aircraft, 1979
A simple expression has been developed which accurately represents the total pressure recovery of a flared exhaust nozzle when it is used as an inlet. Physically such a situation can arise during the reverse-thrust operation of a variable pitch fan jet.

Preliminary Design of a 2D Supersonic Inlet to Maximize Total Pressure Recovery

AIAA 5th ATIO and16th Lighter-Than-Air Sys Tech. and Balloon Systems Conferences, 2005
*† This paper provides a method of preliminary design for a two-dimensional, mixed compression, two-ramp supersonic inlet to maximize total pressure recovery and match the mass flow demand of the engine. For an on-design condition, the total pressure recovery is maximized according to the optimization criterion, and the dimensions of the inlet in terms

Numerical Investigation of Geometric Effects on Total Pressure Recovery of S-Ducts

47th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting including The New Horizons Forum and Aerospace Exposition, 2009
A five parameter numerical study was performed to determine main factors contributing to subsonic performance of S-duct inlets. Parameters of the study included duct length, vertical offset distance, expansion ratio of the cross-sectional area, aspect ratio of elliptical entry and Mach number at entry.

Experimental investigation of the recovery of the total pressure in a hypersonic wind tunnel with conical and profiled nozzles

Fluid Dynamics, 1984
Measurements have been made of the coefficient of recovery ν of the total pressure of a gas flow exhausting from axisymmetric and conical profiled hypersonic nozzles into a cylindrical channel of diameter equal to or greater than the nozzle exit and also in the presence of an Eiffel chamber.
