Habituation of Phasic Total Respiratory Resistance Responses
Psychological Reports, 1990We examined the effects of repetitious stimulation on phasic respiratory resistance responses of 30 healthy adult males. Individuals were told either that they would inhale a substance which would cause bronchoconstriction or that they would inhale a substance which would cause no breathing changes.

Rotational atherectomy in resistant chronic total occlusions
Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, 2010AbstractObjectives: To assess the application of rotational atherectomy to improving the success rate of percutaneous recanalization of chronic total occlusion (CTO). Background: Although the inability to cross the occlusion with a guidewire is the reason for failure in the majority of cases, one of the most frustrating situations that may occur during

Partitioning of total pulmonary resistance in horses
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1995SUMMARY The partitioning of total pulmonary resistance (Rl) into upper airway resistance and lower airway resistance (Rl) was studied in 8 Thoroughbred geldings. In addition, the phase shift and amplitude distortion of 3 catheters used for pressure measurements in this study were evaluated under static and dynamic conditions.

Comparison of Airway Resistance and Total Respiratory System Resistance in Infants
American Review of Respiratory Disease, 1993Airway resistance (Raw) can be measured throughout the respiratory cycle by whole body plethysmography. Total resistance of the respiratory system (Rrs) can be measured from the relaxed expiration that follows end inspiratory occlusion. The purpose of this study was to compare the two methods in normal infants and in infants with airway obstruction of ...

Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus infected total knee arthroplasty
The Journal of Arthroplasty, 2001Use of vancomycin to treat infections and hospital colonization with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus has contributed to the development of vancomycin resistance in Enterococcus. Postoperative infection with vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus developed in 2 patients after total knee arthroplasty, indicating that the infections were nosocomial.
