Meuli Total Wrist Arthroplasty
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1984The wrist endoprosthesis developed and used since 1971 by the author is comparable to other designs of total joint implants. The completely unconstrained design has proved effective. It has sufficient stability, provided that the proper muscle balance is achieved at the end of the procedure.

The purpose of this study was to extend previous work to detect migration of total wrist arthroplasty non-invasively, and with greater accuracy. Two human cadaverous arms, each with a cemented total wrist implant, were used in this study. In one of the arms, 1 mm tantalum balls were implanted, six in the carpal bones and five in the radius.

Total wrist arthroplasty: A preliminary report
The Journal of Hand Surgery, 1977Evaluation of 26 Meuli total wrist arthroplasties in 22 patients 7 to 17 months after operation revealed that 92 percent (24 wrists) were relieved of pain. Postoperative motion averaged 32 degrees of dorsiflexion. 27 degrees of palmar flexion, 2 degrees of radial deviation, and 23 degrees of ulnar deviation.
