Simulating Errors in Touchscreen Typing

open access: yesProceedings of the 2025 CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems
Empirical evidence shows that typing on touchscreen devices is prone to errors and that correcting them poses a major detriment to users' performance. Design of text entry systems that better serve users, across their broad capability range, necessitates understanding the cognitive mechanisms that underpin these errors.

Association of Intramuscular Fat Infiltration With Incident Venous Thromboembolism: A Population‐Based Cohort Study

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a major acute cardiovascular condition with high mortality, affecting nearly 10 million individuals worldwide each year. Identifying novel and modifiable risk factors is crucial for advancing prevention strategies.

Toward Autonomous Clinics: Human–Robot Collaboration in Clinical Care

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2026.
This graphical abstract summarizes the conceptual structure of human–robot collaboration (HRC) for autonomous clinical systems. The framework is organized around a dual‐brain architecture in which a professional brain supports clinical reasoning tasks such as diagnosis, image analysis, treatment planning, and patient monitoring, while a physical brain ...

Control System for the Navigation of the Agricultural Robots: A Review

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, Volume 43, Issue 5, Page 3474-3505, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Control systems for the navigation of autonomous agricultural robots—particularly those operating in uneven terrain and in the presence of static or dynamic obstacles—have advanced considerably in recent years. As conventional machinery evolves toward increasingly automated systems, the design of reliable navigation controllers has become ...

A novel index to measure pre‐planning in the Tower of London task: Test–retest reliability and known‐group validity

open access: yesBritish Journal of Psychology, Volume 117, Issue 3, Page 1007-1025, August 2026.
Abstract The Tower of London (TOL) is a planning task frequently used in clinical settings and research. Planning and execution times are the most common outcome variables despite yielding lower effect sizes in clinical group comparisons and lower test–retest reliability than planning accuracy. Here, it is proposed that planning time be analysed not in

Proteomic Profiling Captures Residual Cardiovascular Risk Beyond the PREVENT Model in Individuals With Cardiovascular–Kidney–Metabolic Syndrome Stages 2–3

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 8, Page 7267-7279, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Cardiovascular–kidney–metabolic (CKM) syndrome reflects complex pathobiological interactions among metabolic disorders, kidney injury, and cardiovascular disease (CVD). Stages 2 and 3 represent critical phases of disease progression characterised by high pathological heterogeneity.

Living With COPD and Views on Digital Health Tools Among Pacific Peoples and Family Carers in Aotearoa New Zealand: A Qualitative Study

open access: yesHealth Expectations, Volume 29, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) disproportionately affects Pacific peoples in Aotearoa New Zealand, with higher incidence, prevalence, and hospitalisation rates than non‐Māori, non‐Pacific populations. Despite this inequity, little qualitative research has explored how Pacific peoples and their families experience ...

Perspectives and Experiences of People Receiving Care on a De‐escalation Intervention to Reduce Restrictive Practices in Acute Mental Health Units

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mental Health Nursing, Volume 35, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Interventions aimed at reducing restrictive practices are also designed to enhance the service experience in acute mental health units. However, people with experience of coercive engagement with these services are seldom involved as active contributors in evaluative research on interventions to reduce restrictive practices.
