Assessment of Sedative Activity of Lonicerin: In Vivo Approach With Pharmacokinetics and Molecular Docking

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2025.
Lonicerin (LON) at doses of 5 and 10 mg/kg reduced sleep latency and increased sleep duration in mice, with combined LON and diazepam showing maximal effects. Computational docking showed LON binds to GABAA receptor sites with a strong affinity (−8.1 kcal/mol), suggesting potential as an insomnia treatment. ABSTRACT Background: Lonicerin (LON) has been

Jaw‐Muscle Structure and Function in Primates: Insights Into Muscle Performance and Feeding‐System Behaviors

open access: yesEvolutionary Anthropology: Issues, News, and Reviews, Volume 34, Issue 1, March 2025.
ABSTRACT The jaw‐adductor muscles drive the movements and forces associated with primate feeding behaviors such as biting and chewing as well as social signaling behaviors such as wide‐mouth canine display. The past several decades have seen a rise in research aimed at the anatomy and physiology of primate chewing muscles to better understand the ...

Genotype specific microbiome divergence of humanized APOE 2, 3, and 4 mice after microbiome standardization [PDF]

open access: yesAlzheimers Dement
Abstract Background Apolipoprotein E (ApoE) is a lipid cargo binding protein that has three variants in humans, ApoE 2, 3, and 4. The ApoE 4 allele is the greatest known genetic factor for sporadic Alzheimer’s Disease. The gut microbiome (GMB) is a key essential to health, and bacterial dysbiosis can lead to poorer outcomes for disease states and an ...

The Vagus Nerve as a Gateway to Body Ownership: taVNS Reduces Susceptibility to a Virtual Version of the Cardiac and Tactile Rubber Hand Illusion

open access: yesPsychophysiology, Volume 62, Issue 3, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) has been shown to influence cognitive and emotional function and enhance interoceptive awareness. This study investigates if taVNS effects extend to the experience of body ownership, as measured via susceptibility to the rubber hand illusion (RHI) in a virtual reality setting.
