Adverse Reactions Identified after Approval of Novel Medicines: Analysis of 339 New Molecular Entities and Therapeutic Biologics

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 120, Issue 4, Page 1120-1128, October 2026.
Postmarketing safety surveillance data identify safety issues not identified in preapproval clinical trials. We describe the frequency of new safety issues overall and by labeling section and the relationship of the most commonly added safety issues with the cumulative number of prescriptions dispensed via retail pharmacies.

One cycle of nelarabine given after induction is well tolerated but does not improve outcome in adults with T‐cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia: Outcome data from the UKALL14 randomized‐controlled trial

open access: yesHemaSphere, Volume 10, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract UKALL14 (NCT01085617) T‐cell arm was a phase 3, randomized‐controlled trial. Adults aged 25–65 years were randomized 1:1 at entry to receive standard of care (SOC) or SOC + nelarabine 1.5 g/m2 (Days 1, 3, and 5) to be administered following second induction. The primary end‐point was event‐free survival (EFS).

Empirical Meropenem Versus Piperacillin/Tazobactam for Critically Ill Adults With Sepsis: Feasibility of a Randomised Trial

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 9, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Meropenem and piperacillin/tazobactam are commonly used empirical antibiotics in critically ill adults with sepsis, but whether one is superior to the other is uncertain. Methods The Empirical Meropenem versus Piperacillin/Tazobactam for Adult Patients with Sepsis (EMPRESS) trial is an ongoing investigator‐initiated, randomised ...

INtraVESical immunoTherapy (INVEST) prior to radical cystectomy for bladder cancer: trial protocol

open access: yesBJU International, Volume 138, Issue 4, Page 607-619, October 2026.
Background High‐risk non‐muscle‐invasive bladder cancer (HRNMIBC) has a variable prognosis, managed predominantly by local surgical resection and intravesical Bacillus Calmette–Guérin (BCG), or radical cystectomy (RC). Current treatments are poorly tolerated, have supply limitations and often fail to control the disease.

Patch Testing in Paediatric Drug Hypersensitivity Reactions: Current Evidence and Clinical Implications

open access: yesContact Dermatitis, Volume 95, Issue 4, Page 349-357, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Drug hypersensitivity reactions (DHRs) are common in children and are diagnostically challenging, with cutaneous manifestations being the most common presentation. Patch testing (PT) is a well‐established tool for investigating delayed T‐cell‐mediated reactions and is widely used in patients with contact dermatitis.
