There are many forms of anabolic steroids, including stanzolo (Winstrol), which are popular for their muscle‐building effects but dangerous to the heart. We generated two neuron‐specific Cre rat lines, Thy1‐Cre and NeuN‐Cre, using CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated targeted insertion. Both lines were validated for high neural specificity by crossing them with a Cre reporter rat.
