Detection of enteric parasite DNA in household and bed dust samples: potential for infection transmission. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
BACKGROUND: Enteric parasites are transmitted in households but few studies have sampled inside households for parasites and none have used sensitive molecular methods.

Novel ELISA Based on Purified and Recombinant Antigens from Toxocara Canis Exhibits a High Diagnostic Sensitivity

open access: yesInternational Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2022
Purpose: Toxocariasis is a zoonosis that is mainly caused by the dog roundworm Toxocara canis and the cat roundworm T. cati. The prevalence of T. canis-specific antibodies in humans is 2-5% in Germany. Many infections with Toxocara spp.

Seroprevalence of Toxocara canis infection and associated risk factors among primary schoolchildren in rural Southern Thailand

open access: yesTropical Medicine and Health, 2020
Human toxocariasis is a parasitic zoonosis caused by a parasite in the genus Toxocara and is transmitted mainly by the accidental ingestion of embryonated Toxocara canis (dog roundworm) or T. cati (cat roundworm) eggs.

Infection with Toxocara canis Inhibits the Production of IgE Antibodies to α-Gal in Humans: Towards a Conceptual Framework of the Hygiene Hypothesis?

open access: yesVaccines, 2020
α-Gal syndrome (AGS) is a type of anaphylactic reaction to mammalian meat characterized by an immunoglobulin (Ig)E immune response to the oligosaccharide α-Gal (Galα1-3Galβ1-4GlcNAc-R).

Behavioral changes in Rattus norvegicus experimentally infected by Toxocara canis larvae Alterações de comportamento em Rattus norvegicus experimentalmente infectados por larvas de Toxocara canis

open access: yesRevista do Instituto de Medicina Tropical de São Paulo, 2010
Toxocara canis is a common canine nematode parasite and one of its possible transmission mechanisms is the predation of infected rodents by canids. Fifty Rattus norvegicus were used to study behavioral alterations in rodents infected by T.

Toxocara canis myelitis.

open access: yesNihon Naika Gakkai Zasshi, 2007
