The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of experimental Toxoplasma gondii infection on ram sperm quality. Thirty-two five months old, pre-pubertal, rams were divided into 4 groups (n=8 per group). Group A was the control group; the remaining three groups (B, C, D) received per os 5000 mature oocysts of T. gondii.

Genetic manipulation of Toxoplasma gondii
Toxoplasma gondii, 2020The first genetic manipulations applied to Toxoplasma gondii were performed in the 1970s using chemical mutagenesis. These studies were pioneered by developing protocols to reproducibly cultivate tachyzoites in a tissue culture to then mutagenize, select,

Only felids shed fecal stages (oocysts) contaminating pastures, food, and water. Other warm-blooded vertebrates serve as paratenic hosts and are infected ingesting oocysts or other hosts containing tissue stages (bradyzoites). Pigs, sheep, goats, and chickens reared with access to oocyst contaminated soil produce the meats most likely to transmit the ...

Toxoplasma gondii isolation and genotyping The digestion products of 209 heart samples, obtained from both serologically positive (n = 200) and negative (n = 9) animals, were inoculated in mice. In total, 627 mice were used for the bioassay. For four bovine samples (8, 76, 122, 125 months; terminal titer of 10, 10, 25 and 10, respectively), all ...
