Looking at old volumes of The Physics Teacher I noticed the article by Susan S. Welch: “What makes it turn?” Perhaps this is still a question? Or has the problem been already solved? In any case, I thought I might convey to you my suggestion for Dutch physics teachers to use the device to demonstrate circularly polarized waves.
