Glaucoma Associated with Precipitates on the Trabecular Meshwork

Ophthalmology, 1979
Precipitates on the trabecular meshwork may be the only sign of ocular inflammation. Fourteen patients who had glaucoma associated with precipitates on the trabecular meshwork and minimal or no other signs of ocular inflammation did not respond to usual antiglaucoma therapy.

Trabecular Meshwork in Normal and Pathological Eyes

Ultrastructural Pathology, 2012
The impact of glycosaminoglycans on intraocular pressure in glaucoma patients and in healthy young or aging subjects is explored.Thirty small autoptic samples were harvested from the tissue localized around the iridocorneal angle of the eye, taking care not to cause aesthetic damage.

Trabecular Meshwork Phagocytosis in Glaucomatous Eyes

Ophthalmologica, 1997
Trabecular meshwork cells are actively phagocytic and may function to keep the drainage pathways free of cellular debris, pigment and other material. A decrease in phagocytic capacity has been proposed in the pathogenesis of glaucoma. This study was performed to compare the phagocytic capability of the human trabecular meshwork in glaucomatous and ...

Proteoglycan expression by human trabecular meshworks

Current Eye Research, 1997
Proteoglycans may serve important roles in trabecular meshwork structure or function. Detailed molecular characterization and identification of specific trabecular proteoglycan core proteins has been limited.Radiolabeled proteoglycans were extracted from cultured human trabecular meshworks and subjected to ion exchange and molecular sieve ...

Keratan sulphate in the trabecular meshwork and cornea

Current Eye Research, 1997
A study was made of the distribution of keratan sulphate in the human anterior chamber. The monoclonal antibody, 5-D-4, was used in immuno-electron microscopy to visualise keratan sulphate distribution in the anterior chamber of 16 normal eyes, 7 Fuchs' dystrophy corneas, and a macular dystrophy cornea.Keratan sulphate was detected in normal human ...

Pathology of the trabecular meshwork

Medical Electron Microscopy, 1994
We demonstrated pathological changes in the trabecular meshwork in primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and various types of secondary open-angle glaucoma eyes. In POAG eyes, a sheath material of the elastic-like fiber was found to be significantly greater in the juxtacanalicular tissue.

Innervation of trabecular meshwork.

Japanese journal of ophthalmology, 1987
The innervation of the trabecular meshwork of the anterior chamber angle in monkey eyes was studied by transmission and scanning electron microscopy. According to the transmission electron microscopic examination, the nerve terminals in the trabecular meshwork mostly contained dense core vesicles after treatment with 5-hydroxydopamine and thus were ...

Does Pigmentation Affect the Trabecular Meshwork?

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1989
Pigment has been associated with glaucoma in pigment dispersion syndrome and in intraocular lens-associated pigment dispersion. Human eyes with segmental pigmentation of the trabecular meshwork may provide a controlled model to study the effects of pigment on the meshwork.

[Ablation of the trabecular meshwork].

Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde, 1991
In an experimental investigation we examined the possibility to create an open pathway between the anterior chamber and Schlemm's canal by excimer laser ablation of the trabecualr meshwork (AT) in enucleated eyes. A quartzfiber was directed through the anterior chamber to the opposite chamber angle.
