During a one-year period, 31 trabeculectomies were done in 25 patients. Of these procedures, 27 (87%) were done for chronic open angle glaucoma, three (10%) for congenital glaucoma, and one for chronic open angle glaucoma in an aphakic patient. Our overall success rate was 87%.

Abstract This study comprises 277 primary open‐angle glaucomas in 239 patients followed up to 10 years after trabeculectomy. Sixty‐four per cent had capsular glaucoma and 36% simple glaucoma. The number of cases showing no progression of glaucoma damage and not needing additional medical therapy decreased slowly with time.

Seventy-four trabeculectomies have been reviewed and discussed. Intraocular pressure 20 mm Hg or lower was achieved in 74.2% at the end of six months and in 66% one year postoperatively. The influence of age and sex on postoperative maintainance of intraocular pressure has also been discussed.
