Trace elements in animals

Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. B, Biological Sciences, 1979
Trace element deficiency and toxicity in animals induces a wide variety of clinical effects although few are sufficiently specific to permit diagnosis without supporting investigation of changes in tissue trace element content or of the activity of metabolic processes influenced by trace element supply.

Trace Elements and Reproduction of Leptospirae

Journal of Applied Bacteriology, 1970
Summary.Low concentrations of Zn and Co salts in the medium stimulated growth of several strains of 2 species of Leptospira, but high concentrations inhibited growth. Low concentrations of Cu increased the growth rate of saprophytic leptospirae but did not affect parasitic strains; high concentrations inhibited all strains.

TRACE ELEMENTS IN NUTRITION

Medical Journal of Australia, 1980
Advances in trace element research over the last decade have done much to elucidate the function of these nutrients at the biochemical level. Five new trace elements have been identified and the general relevance of microelements in human nutrition has undergone reassessment.

Vitamins and trace elements

2010
Vitamins are diverse, unrelated organic compounds that some higher animals, humans included, cannot synthesize and which play key roles in metabolism, underpinning the most crucial of biological reactions. They are required in small amounts and have diverse functions, e.g.

Trace Element Microanalysis

1990
This laboratory is designed to give you a feel for the amount of care and time that must go into any measurement involving trace elements. The trace element concentration range is often defined as concentrations below 0.5 wt% for most elements and below 1 wt% for the light elements.
