Gold Tracer Studies of Muscle Regeneration
Journal of Neuropathology & Experimental Neurology, 1976Rabbits were injected with soluble gold, and cold injury was inflicted upon their extraocular muscles. Following the typical freeze-thaw damage in which the myofiber basement membrane is preserved, a polymorphonuclear granulocyte exudation occurred. At this stage only a few interstitial cells with long processes contained gold.

Tracer Studies on a Transplantable Hamster Melanoma
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1964The problem of early detection of intraocular tumors is a very real one and needs no belaboring for the ophthalmologist. Since Ehrlich propounded the concept of specific chemotherapy, researchers have looked for tissue-specific drugs. The possibility of tumor detection with the help of substances that localize in specific tissues has been explored with

Protocol Development for Biological Tracer Studies
1998Improved instrumentation and the increased availability of labeled compounds have democratized the application of isotope-dilution (tracer) methodology in nutrient metabolism. Still, the most challenging aspects of tracer experimentation reside in the steps that precede the measurement of an isotopically labeled tracer, i.e.

Tracer clearance studies in hydrocephalus: A critique
Acta Neurochirurgica, 1981Quantitative isotope ventriculography (QIV) has been suggested as a method for diagnosing hydrocephalus and predicting the results of CSF shunt insertion. However, the physiological significance of this and other tracer clearance studies is questionable.

Synthesis of penicillins for tracer studies
The International Journal of Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1962The synthesis of Penicillin K, Penicillin X, Penicillin F and its dihydro derivative, and C/sup 14/-labeled benzylpenicillin are described, starting from preparations containing 6aminopenlcillanic acid. (T.F.H.)

A tracer technique for cratering studies
Journal of Geophysical Research, 1965Abstract : A method is outlined whereby marker cans are used in colored sand columns to measure the ejecta and ground movements in the vicinity of a crater from a 20-ton surface burst TNT detonation. It is shown that the use of marker cans greatly increases the data obtained from the sand columns, with comparatively little increase in the cost of the ...

Radioactive tracer studies of monolayers
Journal of Colloid Science, 1958Abstract The composition of built-up calcium stearate stearic acid layers has been studied with Ca45. The results diverge from those obtained by conventional chemical analysis of the floating layers (“H-layers”), from which the built-up layers were formed.

The Use of Tracers in Transport Studies
2020Tracers can be tagged to specific molecules of biological interest and used to follow the fate of the latter within a cell. The use of the ultrastructural tracers in permeability studies assumes a thorough characterization of their molecular weight, size, shape, net electrical charge, and chemistry.

Parkinson’s disease and PET tracer studies
1988Although the cause of Parkinson's disease is still unknown it has become clear that dopaminergic cell loss in the substantia nigra is a prominent feature of the disease. The study of cerebral dopaminergic function-dominated by the nigrostriatal system-in relation to motor abnormalities and their response to treatment has been in the centre of research ...
