Rhabdomyosarcoma of the trachea

A 12-year-old girl was admitted on two occasions to our department because of severe dyspnoea, necessitating emergency tracheostomy. On the second admission, a lateral neck X-ray demonstrated a globular tumour which was found to be an embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma.

Agenesis of the trachea

We report a case of agenesis of the trachea type III of Floyd that survived for 2 days with an esophageal intubation. Surgical treatment consisted of a distal esophageal binding, cervical esophagostomy in double-barrelled shotgun, and gastrostomy. Death occurred on the third day after surgery.

Tracheal tuberculosis is an uncommon localized form of tuberculosis with fewer than 150 reported cases in the literature. We report a case of tracheal stenosis caused by tuberculosis in which the diagnosis was suggested by the patient's past medical history.

Glomangioma of the trachea

A case of a glomus tumor arising in an unusual site, the trachea, is described. The tumor was composed of a mixture of glomus cells and mast cells. At the ultrastructural level, the glomus cells exhibited features of modified smooth-muscle cells.

Neurilemoma of the Trachea

Neurilemomas of the tracheobronchial tree are exceedingly rare. In this article we report what is, to our knowledge, the 12th case--the third such case of tracheal origin. Clinical features are referable to airway obstruction and local pressure effects. The gross appearance is of an encapsulated lesion.
