Tracheal Agenesis: A Rare Disease with Unique Airway Considerations

Anesthesia & Analgesia, 2003
Abnormal tracheal development causes a spectrum of life-threatening anomalies. We report a newborn with tracheal agenesis and a common "esophagotrachea." Ventilation was achieved first by face mask then with an endotracheal tube. In this report, we describe the types of tracheal agenesis and discuss initial airway management.

Multidetector-row Computed Tomography of Diffuse Tracheal Disease

Journal of Bronchology & Interventional Pulmonology, 2009
Diffuse tracheal diseases are uncommon and may mimic asthma or other forms of chronic obstructive lung disease. Bronchoscopy is usually definitive in establishing a diagnosis and assessing the severity of diffuse tracheal disease. However, advances in multidetector-row computed tomography (MDCT) technology allow for rapid acquisition time and ...

[Difficult tracheal intubation with von Recklinghausen disease].

Masui. The Japanese journal of anesthesiology, 1999
We experienced a case of difficult tracheal intubation in a 15-year-old boy with von Recklinghausen disease scheduled for resection of a right neck tumor. His scoliosis made it difficult to intubate and to manage airway because he easily developed dyspnea. We tried nasotracheal intubation with the patient awake under sedation using a bronchofiberscope,
