Ultrasound-guided versus Shikani optical stylet-aided tracheal intubation: a prospective randomized study

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology, 2020
Background To compare ultrasound-guided tracheal intubation (UGTI) versus Shikani optical stylet (SOS)-aided tracheal intubation in patients with anticipated normal airway.

Domain Adaptive Sim-to-Real Segmentation of Oropharyngeal Organs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Video-assisted transoral tracheal intubation (TI) necessitates using an endoscope that helps the physician insert a tracheal tube into the glottis instead of the esophagus. The growing trend of robotic-assisted TI would require a medical robot to distinguish anatomical features like an experienced physician which can be imitated by utilizing supervised

Development of Automatic Endotracheal Tube and Carina Detection on Portable Supine Chest Radiographs using Artificial Intelligence [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
The image quality of portable supine chest radiographs is inherently poor due to low contrast and high noise. The endotracheal intubation detection requires the locations of the endotracheal tube (ETT) tip and carina. The goal is to find the distance between the ETT tip and the carina in chest radiography.

Difficult Airway Society guidelines for awake tracheal intubation (ATI) in adults

open access: yesAnaesthesia, 2019
Awake tracheal intubation has a high success rate and a favourable safety profile but is underused in cases of anticipated difficult airway management.

A data review of airway management in patients with oral cavity or oropharyngeal cancer: a single-institution experience

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology, 2019
Background Oral cavity and oropharyngeal cancer impose significant threat to airway management. Head and neck radiotherapy (HNRT) may further increase the difficulty of tracheal intubation.

Tactile Method in Confirming Proper Endotracheal Intubation in Emergency Setting; a Letter to Editor

open access: yesArchives of Academic Emergency Medicine, 2021
Orotracheal intubation is one of the sure ways to manage airways in critical patients (1, 2). Failed intubation (Failure to properly place the endotracheal tube (ETT) in trachea) is a rather common event (3).

Effect of intravenous pulses of methylprednisolone 250 mg versus dexamethasone 6 mg in hospitalised adults with severe COVID‐19 pneumonia: An open‐label randomised trial

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Investigation, Volume 53, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Graphical abstract MP3‐pulses‐COVID‐19 trial. Abstract Background The efficacy and safety of high versus medium doses of glucocorticoids for the treatment of patients with COVID‐19 has shown mixed outcomes in controlled trials and observational studies.

Landmark Detection using Transformer Toward Robot-assisted Nasal Airway Intubation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Robot-assisted airway intubation application needs high accuracy in locating targets and organs. Two vital landmarks, nostrils and glottis, can be detected during the intubation to accommodate the stages of nasal intubation. Automated landmark detection can provide accurate localization and quantitative evaluation.

Successful cardiopulmonary cerebral resuscitation incorporating defibrillation in a filly with neonatal maladjustment syndrome following a routine anaesthetic procedure

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, Volume 35, Issue 2, Page e77-e85, February 2023., 2023
Summary A 10‐h‐old 56‐kg Thoroughbred filly was presented for treatment of partial failure of passive transfer of immunity and presumed neonatal maladjustment syndrome (NMS). The filly was hospitalised, and supportive care initiated. On Day 5 of hospitalisation, seizures were observed and were controlled with IV administration of diazepam.
