Elevated BMI Is Not Associated With Adverse Outcomes in Open Airway Reconstruction

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 136, Issue 10, Page 4219-4233, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Open airway reconstruction is indicated for structural airway stenoses but may be associated with significant morbidity. While obesity influences perioperative outcomes in many surgical domains, its role in airway reconstruction remains unclear.

Provox Life HMEs for Pulmonary Rehabilitation in HME‐Naïve Laryngectomy Patients: A Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate whether Provox Life Heat and Moisture Exchangers (HMEs) and attachments enable HME‐naïve laryngectomized patients to establish a 24‐h HME routine, and whether the resulting effect on pulmonary symptoms is sustained over 9 months, compared with standard care. Methods In this prospective, randomized controlled trial, 79 HME‐

Tracheal Transplantation

open access: yes
Airway stenosis and malignant tumors are the 2 main reasons to perform a surgical resection of part of the trachea. Tracheal lesions with a length shorter than 5 cm can be resected and primary reconstruction can be safely effected.

Perioperative Adverse Events in Primary Palatoplasty: “Risk Factors and Impact on Care Escalation in a Multicenter Cohort”

open access: yesPediatric Anesthesia, Volume 36, Issue 10, Page 1247-1253, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Patients undergoing palatoplasty experience perioperative adverse events. Identifying risk factors for perioperative adverse events and escalation of care may improve outcomes. Methods Pediatric patients undergoing primary palatoplasty were included in this retrospective observational study performed at two academic children's ...
