It's a Wrap! Reviewing the 1997 Outdoor Season [PDF]

open access: yesAthletics: Canada's National Track and Field / Running Magazine (November/December 1997), 1997
The 100m world rankings of the 1997 outdoor track and field competition season are reviewed, subject to corrections for wind effects and atmospheric drag. The rankings and times are compared with those of 1996, and the improvements of each athlete over the course of a year are discussed.

Decoupling Video and Human Motion: Towards Practical Event Detection in Athlete Recordings [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
In this paper we address the problem of motion event detection in athlete recordings from individual sports. In contrast to recent end-to-end approaches, we propose to use 2D human pose sequences as an intermediate representation that decouples human motion from the raw video information.

Towards AI enabled automated tracking of multiple boxers [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Continuous tracking of boxers across multiple training sessions helps quantify traits required for the well-known ten-point-must system. However, continuous tracking of multiple athletes across multiple training sessions remains a challenge, because it is difficult to precisely segment bout boundaries in a recorded video stream.
