Dicarboxylate‐modified anionic hairy cellulose nanocrystals exhibit a high selectivity for dysprosium(III) over neodymium(III). This selectivity arises from disordered dicarboxylate cellulose “hairs” that enable cooperative ionic coordination, hydrogen bonding, and strain‐induced conformational shrinkage.

Energy-Efficient Streaming Using Non-volatile Memory [PDF]
The disk and the DRAM in a typical mobile system consume a significant fraction (up to 30%) of the total system energy. To save on storage energy, the DRAM should be small and the disk should be spun down for long periods of time.

Dense Nanofibrillar Collagen–Silica Hybrids with High Strength and ECM‐Mimetic Tissue Integration
Dense nanofibrillar collagen–silica hybrids are engineered by synchronizing collagen fibrillogenesis with silica condensation, producing printable scaffolds that unexpectedly approach native extracellular matrix organization and strength. These cell‐free constructs guide endogenous cell‐infiltration, enable localized matrix remodeling, and integrate ...

On-Disk Data Processing: Issues and Future Directions [PDF]
In this paper, we present a survey of "on-disk" data processing (ODDP). ODDP, which is a form of near-data processing, refers to the computing arrangement where the secondary storage drives have the data processing capability.

Nonlinear Tracking Control for a Hard Disk Drive Dual-Stage Actuator System
This paper presents a nonlinear tracking control method for a hard disk drive (HDD) dual-stage actuator (DSA.) system that consists of a voice coll motor (VCM) actuator and a piezoelectric (PZT) microactuator. Conventional track seeking controllers for DSA systems were generally designed to enable the VCM actuator to approach the target track without ...

Quantum sensing reveals intricate patterns linking endo‐lysosomal maturation to cardiac fibrosis progression, highlighting complexity in cellular remodeling. This study investigates fibroblast‐to‐myofibroblast transition under cell aging, stiffness, and TGF‐β stimulation, comparing nanodiamond uptake, endo‐lysosomal dynamics, and free radical ...

Gold bipyramids can act as efficient plasmonic nanoheaters, but they often reshape during laser heating. This study shows that oxygen nanobubbles drive oxidative etching and that surface ligands control stability. CTAB‐ and citrate‐coated particles blunt and lose optical performance, whereas polystyrene sulfonate preserves shape and heating by ...

Track-seeking controller design for dual-stage actuator in magnetic disk drives
A new decoupled track-seeking controller design is described for dual-stage servo systems of magnetic disk drives. The controller is applied to the dual-stage system with a push-pull piezoelectric (PZT) micro-actuator and enables highspeed one-track seeking and short-span track seeking. The one-track seeking controller was designed in three steps: 1) a

Our study showed that human primary gingival fibroblast–derived microvesicles on nano‐engineered titanium implants promote early osseointegration and soft‐tissue attachment in vivo. ABSTRACT Titanium dental implants require both reliable osseointegration and peri‐implant soft tissue seal formation to ensure long‐term success. While osseointegration has
