EMFRail: A Tool to Calculate Rail Traction Electromagnetic Fields

2017 Joint Rail Conference, 2017
EMC/EMI is a source of concern from the beginning of planning a new railway line. High powered electrified railways such as HSR are usually AC electrified. This poses a hazard for nearby systems and users. Induced voltages can create electric shock risks or malfunction in signalling or other nearby systems.

Impedance Calculations for AT Power Traction Networks with Parallel Connections

2010 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2010
The modes of power traction networks are various, such as direct mode, BT (boost transformer) mode and AT (auto-transformer) mode. A new mode of AT power traction networks with parallel connections (PC) is applied on high-speed electrified railways in China.

Digital Protection of Traction Network and Setting Calculation Features

2018 XIV International Scientific-Technical Conference on Actual Problems of Electronics Instrument Engineering (APEIE), 2018
The reliable operation of DC traction network feeders’ protections is one of the main vehicles problems. The usage of special devices was proposed to solve that problem., but it did not raise the system reliability. Protection devices reacted to one parameter: current., voltage., resistance., heating of current-carrying parts.

Fatigue life prediction of IGBT module for metro vehicle traction converter based on traction calculation

2015 IEEE 11th International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2015
Metro vehicles start and stop frequently, which leads to complex fluctuation of IGBT module's junction temperature and induces fatigue that causes the failure of IGBT module. In order to predict the fatigue life of IGBT module, theory and method for calculating train traction, loss, transient temperature and fatigue life were analyzed, and ...

Calculation of asynchronous traction motor start-up characteristics by FEM method

International Symposium on Power Electronics Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion, 2012
2D and 3D calculation of squirrel-cage traction motor start-up characteristics at rated voltage and frequency have been performed by using a numerical FEM based program. From the equivalent circuit parameters, which are obtained by analytical calculation, a simulation of a start-up using an analytical dynamic model was performed.

New Results of Traction Force Calculations in Elastohydrodynamic Contacts

Journal of Tribology, 1985
The lubricant shear modulus G and Ree-Eyring shear stress τ0 are determined in this work by using Roelands’, rather than Barus’, relationship for calculating the lubricant viscosity. When using Roelands’ viscosity, elastic effects in the lubricant tend to be negligible, especially when inlet shear heating and displacement of the center of pressure are ...

Calculation of Load Distribution in a Roller Bearing of a Locomotive Traction Engine

2020
The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the radial clearance on the load between the rolling elements in the bearing of the locomotive traction motor. A method has been developed for calculating the distribution of the load between the rolling elements of a roller bearing of a traction motor, which makes it possible to take into account

Calculation of superconducting traction transformer 1MVA and its cooling

2005 IEEE Russia Power Tech, 2005
This paper deals with the Superconducting traction transformer (STT) 1MVA and its cooling. The idea of this usage originated in the SKODA Research Ltd., Pilsen. The paper compares the classical transformer and STT. The second part describes cooling of the STT. This part is complemented by calculations of the heat exchange.
