Traction Performance of Tires

Advanced Tire Mechanics, 2019
The traction performance of a tire is important to the safety of a vehicle. Traction models of a tire have been proposed for different road conditions, such as dry, wet, snowy, icy and muddy conditions. Simple analytical models for tire traction in braking and driving have been developed by extending the Fiala model of cornering performance.

Rigid lugged wheel for conventional agricultural wheeled tractors – Optimising traction performance and wheel–soil interaction in field operations

Biosystems Engineering, 2019
Wheeled traffic with poor traction and high axle loads has been indicated as the main source of soil compaction along with numerous associated concerns in the agricultural environment.

The temperature effect on the performance of a traction asynchronous motor

Russian Electrical Engineering, 2011
The faults and damages of the asynchronous motors currently used in the traction rolling stock are reviewed. It is shown that a significant number of failures in operation are due to the excessive temperature in the stator coil and how it affects the mechanical characteristics and the traction performance of the asynchronous motor windings.

Evaluating Performance of Traction Devices

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1962
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Traction limits the capacity of a tractor and the traction device is usually the most inefficient element in the power train. This paper presents performance criteria of traction devices together with definitions of important terms. Facilities and techniques for evaluating tractive performance are briefly discussed

Comparative Performance of Ankle Arthroscopy with and without Traction

Foot & Ankle International, 2012
Background: Ankle arthroscopy has evolved as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool. Traditionally, it is performed with traction because of the tight ankle joint space. Original traction techniques were invasive but have progressed to the commonly used noninvasive modalities. Recent reports have suggested traction may be unnecessary.

Performance of Traction Wheels in a Clay Soil

Transactions of the ASAE, 1979
ABSTRACT TRACTION studies were carried out in a Ste. Rosalie clay field at various soil moisture levels with soil strength measurements being obtained in situ. Soil samples from the field were analysed for particle size distribution, Atterberg limits and strength properties.
