Continuous Overvoltages on A.C. Traction Systems
IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1983Methods of calculating a. c. traction system overvoltages caused by harmonic distortion in the locomotive current waveforms are described. A comparison is made between the results of an analogue simulation and measurements obtained during a site test.

A haptic-based traction control system
2013 American Control Conference, 2013This paper presents a haptic support system for traction control (HTC). The haptic gas pedal exerts a wheel slip dependent force; this enables an efficient information transfer so that the driver is able to close the loop. The paper presents the basic rationale and validates it with an experimental campaign carried out with a driver-in-the-loop ...

An on-board Monitoring System for Electrical Railway Traction Systems
2006 IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference Proceedings, 2006Energy saving in electrical railway traction systems has gained more and more relevance in the last years. As a matter of fact, the need for increasing speed in order to provide better quality services, implies an increase in energy consumption, and in operational costs. To keep the latter at the lowest level possible, it is possible to adapt the train'

An improved traction system for fragile bones
Injury, 1984The problems of transcutaneous tibial pins for skeletal traction in elderly patients are considered, and the reasons behind loosening of the pin are discussed. A novel method of skeletal traction using two pins is proposed.

Traction Systems and Experimental Platforms
2020In this chapter, three experimental platforms for traction systems, including one dSPACE-based traction system of high-speed trains and two actual traction systems, will be introduced in details. First, we will briefly describe the traction system in terms of its system structure and operating mechanism. Then, experimental platforms together with their

Evolution of Traction Power Systems and DC Electric Traction
Journal on Electronic and Automation EngineeringTraction power systems (TPSs) have revolutionized transportation by transitioning from mechanical and steam-based methods to advanced electric systems, enabling efficiency, reliability, and scalability. These systems have played a crucial role in enhancing the performance of railways and urban transit while reducing environmental impact and addressing ...

Critical driving situations can occur not only while braking, but also whenever strong longitudinal forces should be transferred at the contact area between the tire and the ground. This is because the transferable lateral forces are reduced by this process.

IET Professional Development Course on Electric Traction Systems, 2006
The development of a cost-optimal traction system towards a specific set of customer requirements is a complex, iterative process with many pitfalls. The new European market situation, with business-oriented operators specifying only their basic performance requirements and no technical details, and with a multinational industry where components such ...

The combination of crop and animal husbandry has been the objective of a large number of experiments in an area where traditional practice has been to run the two enterprises parallel rather than in true combination. The idea of replacing hand cultivation by animal traction has always appealed to agronomists because the former is so unproductive. There
