GLOBALIZATION AND THE GAINS FROM VARIETY [PDF]

open access: yes
Since the seminal work of Krugman (1979), product variety has played a central role in models of trade and growth. In spite of the general use of love-of-variety models, there has been no systematic study of how the import of new varieties has ...

Physical Intelligence in Small‐Scale Robots and Machines

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
“Physical intelligence” (PI) empowers biological organisms and artificial machines, especially at the small scales, to perceive, adapt, and even reshape their complex, dynamic, and unstructured operation environments. This review summarizes recent milestones and future directions of PI in small‐scale robots and machines.

Trade liberalization and demand labor elasticities : evidence from Tunisia [PDF]

open access: yes
Ce papier étudie les effets de la libéralisation des échanges sur les élasticités de la demande du travail. Une équation de demande d'emploi est estimée en se fondant sur des données (1971-1996) portant sur six industries manufacturières tunisiennes. Les

Crystal Engineering of Reticular Materials for Gas‐ and Liquid‐Phase Hydrocarbon Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Crystal engineering enables systematic study of structure/function relationships as exemplified by pore engineering of reticular sorbents, including porous coordination networks and covalent organic frameworks. This review assesses such studies applied across the full scope of industrially relevant hydrocarbon separations to provide insight into how ...

Supply Capacity, Vertical Specialisation andTrade Costs: The Implications for Aggreagate US Trade Flow Equations [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper re-examines aggregate and disaggregate import and export demand functions for the United States over the 1975-2010 period. This re-examination is warranted because (1) income elasticities are too high to be warranted by standard theories, and (

Artificial Symbiosis for Bulk Production of Bacterial Cellulose Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Co‐cultivation of the cellulose‐producing bacterium with the microalga enables bulk formation of bacterial cellulose under static incubation, with photosynthetically active oxygen‐generating sites throughout the medium. This symbiotic platform supports 3D cellulosic constructs with geometries dictated by the vessel shape.

Decoupling Dynamics and Crosslink Stability in Supramolecular Hydrogels Using Associative Exchange

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
How does reorganization impact the stability of supramolecular hydrogels? In contrast to dissociative crosslink exchange, implementing associative exchange in macroscale DNA hydrogels enables decoupling of reorganization dynamics from thermal and mechanical stability.
