Mechanism Analysis of Zuogui and Yougui Pills on Diabetic Nephropathy Through Transcriptional Regulatory Networks of HIF1A and PPARA

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 6, June 2025.
The shared mechanisms of Zuogui Pill (ZGP) and Yougui Pill (YGP) for treating diabetic nephropathy is HIF1A‐CA9‐PDK1 and PPARA‐PDK4. ZGP and YGP inhibited renal fibrosis and relieved the decrease in glucose consumption through transcriptional regulatory network of HIF1A and PPARA.

Food Waste to Wellness: A Grape Pomace Blend in Gastric Cancer Prevention

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 6, June 2025.
Grape pomace was used to set up a phytocomplex studied for gastric cancer prevention. HPLC/MS analyses revealed that this mixture is a source of many polyphenols and amino acids. This novel nutraceutical (GPE) selectively targets cancer cells, sparing healthy ones. Molecular mechanisms confirmed that GPE acts, inducing apoptosis and autophagy.

Neuroprotection and Enhanced Learning and Memory Abilities of Steamed American Ginseng (Panax quinquefolium L.) Based on Zebrafish

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 6, June 2025.
Our research is the first to explore the neuroprotective effects of total saponin active compounds isolated from Panax quinquefolius after steaming different times, and to screen out those total saponins with better neuroprotective activity, as well as to conduct a preliminary study on their potential to improve learning and memory impairments. Metabolite‐Based Network Pharmacology, Molecular Docking, and Dynamics Simulations to Preliminarily Verify Treating Diabetic Encephalopathy Effect of Kuwanon G

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 6, June 2025.
This study investigates the neuroprotective effects of Kuwanon G (KWG) against diabetic encephalopathy (DE) by characterizing its metabolic profile and therapeutic mechanisms. Using UHPLC‐Q‐TOF‐MS, network pharmacology, molecular docking, and dynamics simulations, 56 metabolites were identified, with nine showing high intestinal absorption and ...

Influence of Storage Environments and Packaging Materials on the Bioactive Compounds in Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 6, June 2025.
Guang Chenpi (GCP), a dual‐use food and medicine, requires optimal storage to maintain quality. Studies using UV, HPLC‐PDA, and GC–MS showed low temperature and humidity hinder aging, while high levels accelerate compound transformation but reduce key components like hesperidin. PE bags preserve flavonoids better than gunny bags.

Molecular Mechanisms Underlying Apple Extract Ameliorates Depression‐Incident Cognitive Dysfunction Based on Network Pharmacology

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 6, June 2025.
This study aimed to investigate the effects of apple extract (AE) on depression and its underlying mechanisms, revealing that AE may exert antidepressant effects by regulating inflammatory responses and the cAMP signaling pathway. Behavioral tests and biochemical analyses demonstrated that AE significantly improved depressive‐like behaviors and ...
