Informality and the Development and Demolition of Urban Villages in the Chinese Peri-urban Area [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The fate of Chinese urban villages (chengzhongcun) has recently attracted both research and policy attention. Two important unaddressed questions are: what are the sources of informality in otherwise orderly Chinese cities; and, will village ...

Targeting CXCR2 in Nociceptive Sensory Neurons Offers Novel Therapeutic Potentials for Postoperative Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tissue incision induces CXCL5 release, which activates neuronal CXCR2 on incision‐innervating sensory neurons. Neuronal CXCR2 couples with TRPA1 to drive mechanical pain and engages p38 MAPK signaling to upregulate TRPV1 and promote heat pain. Targeted Cxcr2 knockdown relieves incisional pain while preserving CXCR2‐dependent neutrophil responses ...

Decoding Viral Transmission Dynamics in Structured Populations Using a Microfluidic Herd‐Immunity‐on‐a‐Chip Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A microfluidic Herd‐Immunity‐on‐a‐Chip experimentally recreates structured contact networks to quantify viral transmission dynamics. By controlling susceptible, infected, and non‐susceptible populations, the platform reveals how contact topology governs the reproduction number, outbreak propagation, herd‐immunity–like behavior, and intervention ...

MOF‐Derived Cu‐TiO2/Alginate Micromotors for Buoyancy‐Regulated 3D Motion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this work, cyanobacteria‐inspired sodium alginate (SA)/Cu‐TiO2/Fe3O4 hydrogel micromotors generate and encapsulate O2 microvesicles upon light irradiation, enabling buoyancy‐mediated Z‐axis upward migration and surface enrichment at the light‐exposed water‐air surface.

The Interplay of Curvature, Geometry, and Topology Shapes Tissue Organisation in Epithelial Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Purely geometric 3D Voronoi models predict the organisation of epithelial shells. The interplay of curvature, geometry, and topology enriches the number of pentagons in shells with lower number of cells. Small MDCK cysts and Mouse embryos match the top polygonal configurations in a compactness‐based ranking derived from the Voronoi model. In conclusion,

Routes entre les villages

open access: yes, 2015
Pour alimenter les chantiers de construction dans les villages, les matériaux venant des villes sont transportés avec des camions sur des routes non goudronnées qui se détériorent très vite.

Common efforts in the development of rural Sarawak, Malaysia [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
The subject of research was whether it is possible to establish modern cooperative societies in traditionally integrated communities. Views of laymen, politicians and sociologists are presented.

Passive Metasurface Tweezers for Multi‐Scale Orbital Transport and Trapping on Elastic Plates

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Passive labyrinthine phase encoding converts single‐channel excitation into localized flexural‐wave vortices with programmable orbital angular momentum. The resulting vortex fields enable cross‐scale particle manipulation, including orbital transport, central confinement, and rotational actuation.

Construction and characterization of cultural landscape genomic maps of traditional miao communities in Leigong Mountain

open access: yesJournal of Asian Architecture and Building Engineering
In the era of farming civilization, traditional villages serve as carriers for value retention. In the context of urban – rural integration, exploring the means for protecting the traditional Miao villages in Leigong Mountain, Qiandongnan, holds great ...

Nuclear IDH3A Drives Transcriptional Programs in Melanoma via the YBX1–JUN/FOS Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Genomic amplification drives aberrant nuclear localization of IDH3A in melanoma. Independent of its canonical metabolic activity, nuclear IDH3A cooperates with YBX1 to activate the c‐JUN/c‐FOS transcriptional program, while NONO facilitates its nuclear localization.
