Optimized YOLOv3 Algorithm and Its Application in Traffic Flow Detections

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
In the intelligent traffic system, real-time and accurate detections of vehicles in images and video data are very important and challenging work. Especially in situations with complex scenes, different models, and high density, it is difficult to ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Assessment of temporal data for hospital admissions for asthma patients in comparison with ambient nitrogen dioxide levels in Guernsey, Channel Islands [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
There are some significant parallels between the environment in the island of Guernsey and that of coastal and island environments in Scotland. Although Guernsey enjoys milder temperatures in the summer months, the winter season experiences stormy ...

Results and recommendations from an intercomparison of six Hygroscopicity-TDMA systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The performance of six custom-built Hygrocopicity-Tandem Differential Mobility Analyser (H-TDMA) systems was investigated in the frame of an international calibration and intercomparison workshop held in Leipzig, February 2006.

Associations of combined exposures to surrounding green, air pollution and traffic noise on mental health.

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2019
BACKGROUND Evidence is emerging that poor mental health is associated with the environmental exposures of surrounding green, air pollution and traffic noise.

Fuzzy logic based dynamic decision-making system for intelligent navigation strategy within inland traffic separation schemes

open access: yes, 2020
This paper proposes a fuzzy logic-based intelligent decision-making approach for navigation strategy selection in the inland traffic separation scheme. The dynamic characteristics of navigation process, including free navigation, ship following and ship ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Analysing the impact of traffic incidents on express road traffic flow using FREEVAL [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Traffic incidents occurring on motorways or express roads cause disruptions and deteriorate traffic conditions. The impact will differ depending on the type of incident, its duration and space blocked on the roadway and can be measured with e.g. average speed reduction, extension of travel time, time lost or overall costs of traffic disruptions.
