Traffic assignment: Equilibrium models

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part I: Journal of Systems and Control Engineering, 2001
The formulation of static traffic assignment models, with variable and fixed demand, based on Wardrop's first principle, are presented for deterministic and stochastic models. The main algorithms used to obtain solutions for these network equilibrium models are given for each class of assignment problems.

Multimodal traffic assignment with traffic emission effects

Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Engineering Sustainability, 2016
Traffic emissions are one of the most serious issues that affect urban sustainable development. Due to the heavy pollution from cars, public transport, including electric bicycles, has been regaining its proper position. A multimodal traffic equilibrium model with emission effects (MTEEE) is presented that considers energy use per person and pollutant

Network Traffic Assignment

2016
In this chapter we are concerned with two schemes for allocating traffic to the arcs of congested road networks: system optimal traffic assignment and user equilibrium traffic assignment. We begin with some cautionary remarks concerning terminology. Techniques for determining Nash equilibria of road networks are frequently collectively referred to by ...

Path-Constrained Traffic Assignment

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2012
This paper presents a mathematical programming model and solution method for the path-constrained traffic assignment problem, in which route choices simultaneously follow the Wardropian equilibrium principle and yield the distance constraint imposed on the path.

Traffic Assignment Model with Environmental Traffic Capacity

ICCTP 2011, 2011
Based on the model of mobile pollutant emissions, environmental factors are embedded into a traffic assignment model in this study. Basic requirements for modeling are put forward considering urban environmental traffic capacity (ETC), while the countermeasures for link impedance function modeling including environmental factors are proposed.

User-Optimized Traffic Assignment

Transportation Engineering Journal of ASCE, 1974
If drivers select routes to minimize their travel times, then the division of traffic among alternative routes of a network is predicted accurately by an algorithm that utilizes realistic increases in travel time with increasing congestion and assigns traffic flow so that travel times on alternative routes carrying traffic are equal and less than ...

Rail freight traffic assignment

Transportation Research Part A: General, 1981
Abstract This paper describes an algorithm for routing freight over a rail network whose tracks are controlled by several carriers in a manner that follows current industrial practices. In particular, the freight is routed to minimize the number of interline transfers and to maximize the revenue division for the originating carrier.

Traffic signals in assignment

Transportation Research Part B: Methodological, 1985
A sound theory combining traffic control and route choice would be of use in the design and operation of traffic control systems, and in the design and evaluation of traffic management schemes and major road proposals. Section 2 of this paper briefly considers the difficulties which arise when traffic control and route choice are combined, and ...
