Traffic Equilibrium with Responsive Traffic Control
Transportation Science, 1993This paper presents a theory of traffic equilibrium which involves responsive signal control policies; in this theory drivers' route choices and the control policy's choice of green times are treated in a symmetrical manner. The central theme of the paper is the iterative optimization assignment algorithm.

Traffic Control Through Traffic Density
2019 3rd European Conference on Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), 2019The article is focused on dynamic driving in road transport. Current systems on the market are referred to as dynamic but have their limitations. Traffic management is an important aspect to ensure the proper functioning and safety of transport as an element of critical infrastructure.

Abstract This survey paper presents the various urban traffic control strategies which have been proposed or applied to prevent and treat congestion. Some basic definitions about congestion, such as primary and secondary congestion, are remembered. Freeway control during congested situations is examined; the access control and exits control problems ...

A linear control algorithm is proposed for the computer operation of a signalized traffic intersection. A theoretical analysis of the algorithm under the assumption of constant vehicular arrival and departure rates shows that the control is stable under unsaturated conditions, and with proper choice of control constants usually gives a rapid ...

A traffic network can be modeled by a digraph, while the traffic sensor location problem can be studied by using a minimum edge control set which is defined as follows. Let G=(V, E) be a digraph. A subset F of the edge set E is called an edge control set of G if every flow of G is completely determined by F.

The cycle of traffic-induced soil compaction and tillage is a major inefficiency of current mechanised agriculture, where random field traffic wastes energy, damages soil structure and imposes other negative consequences. Controlled traffic farming (CTF) restricts compaction to precise traffic lanes, where it improves wheel performance, allowing ...

Traffic control at intersection with linear traffic lights
IECON 2017 - 43rd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2017We propose a new device for controlling traffic in intersection, named linear traffic light. The linear traffic light detects vehicles entering the intersection and shows personalized traffic signal to them by linearly aligned traffic lights. The main features of the traffic control system based on the linear traffic light are its simplicity and ...

Vehicle probes as data collectors, satellites as traffic spies and area wide traffic signal control will shape the future traffic system. In order to apply these technologies, new methods for data mining are necessary. Aerial photogrammetry covers a wide range of edges and nodes that have to be linked with digital maps, containing static and dynamic ...
