Atomistic Mechanisms Triggered by Joule Heating Effects in Metallic Cu‐Bi Nanowires for Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bi doped metallic Cu nanowires are promising for spintronics thanks to the stabilization of a giant spin Hall effect. However, heat resulting from current injection forces Bi to leave solution, forcing segregation into monoatomic decorations which evolve into coherent crystalline aggregates.

Stesichorus on Stage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
While scholars generally agree that Stesichorus was important to the tragedians, studies of the relationship focus on the broad shaping of the plot or stylistic devices, and suggest little detailed engagement at a textual level.

Adaptive Twisting Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces torque‐controlled twisting metamaterials as a transformative platform for adaptive crashworthiness. By combining multiscale predictive modeling with experimental validation on additively manufactured gyroids, it demonstrates tunable stiffness, collapse stress, and energy absorption.

“This inexplicable war”. William Butler Yeats and his ‘Silence’ on the Great War

open access: yesLe Simplegadi, 2016
On the occasion of W. B. Yeats’s 150th birth anniversary and the First World War centenary, this paper aims at investigating the poet’s response to the tragedy of 1914-1918 by analysing his limited literary output related to the event.

In Another Sesquicentennial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
On Tuesday, Jake wrote asking who controls the memory of 9/11. The ownership of memory is such an interesting thing. This tenth anniversary was an interesting event, fraught with conflicted memory and different voices.

Electrically Assisted Thermal Stamping of Tunable Carbon‐Based Nanofilms for Direct Fabrication of Hydrophobic, Energy Harvesting, and Sensing Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of the electrically assisted thermal stamping (EATS) method for direct fabrication of carbon‐based nanofilms and their multifunctional applications. Localized Joule heating triggers simultaneous exfoliation, reduction, and fluoropolymer incorporation under ambient conditions, yielding tunable carbon‐based thin‐film coatings ...

Recent Progress on Flexible Multimodal Sensors: Decoupling Strategies, Fabrication and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In this review, we establish a tripartite decoupling framework for flexible multimodal sensors, which elucidates the underlying principles of signal crosstalk and their solutions through material design, structural engineering, and AI algorithms. We also demonstrate its potential applications across environmental monitoring, health monitoring, human ...
