Trailing edge flap influence on leading edge vortex flap aerodynamics

Journal of Aircraft, 1983
A study has been conducted to explore the effects of trailing edge flaps (TEF) on leading edge vortex flap (LEVF) aerodynamics. A variety of LEVF and TEF configurations were tested on flat plate delta wings with leading edge sweep angles of 60 and 75 deg.

Helicopter vibration reduction with trailing edge flaps

36th Structures, Structural Dynamics and Materials Conference, 1995
Main rotor blades with plain trailing edge flaps are investigated as a potential means of vibration reduction using a comprehensive rotorcraft analysis. The analysis is modified to incorporate an unsteady aerodynamic model including flap effects. Predicted blade and pitch link loads show adequate correlation with experimental data. An initial open loop

Swashplateless Helicopter Rotor with Trailing-Edge Flaps

Journal of Aircraft, 2004
A helicopter primary control system with trailing-edge flaps was investigated numerically for its potential to replace a conventional swashplate system. Eliminating the swashplate and associated control system can lead to significant reductions in weight, drag, and cost and an improvement of rotor performance.

Trailing-Edge Flap Placement

2015
The optimal location of flaps for multiple-flap configuration shown in Chap. 4 was obtained through parametric studies and the objective was to minimize only the hub vibration levels. These trailing-edge flaps are typically operated using piezoceramic actuators placed inside the blade section.

Effects of Gurney flap and trailing-edge wedge on a blunt trailing-edge aerofoil

International Conference on Renewable Power Generation (RPG 2015), 2015
Gurney flap and trailing-edge wedge are useful devices to improve the aerodynamic performance of aerofoils for wind turbines; however, the researches on blunt trailing-edge aerofoil are limited. In this paper, we focus on the flow mechanism of Gurney flaps and trailing-edge wedges and their impacts on a blunt trailing-edge aerofoil DU97-W-300.

Trailing‐edge Flaps

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1937
THE reader who asks for more wood and less trees in technical discussions of wing flaps has my sympathy, since I have myself been responsible for some denseness of undergrowth. In this article 1 intend to avoid detail somewhat ruthlessly, to stand back and get a long view of the subject, to give, in fact, a freehand sketch rather than a blue print.

Semiempirical Method for Predicting Aerodynamics of Trailing-Edge Flaps

Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 2002
An improved semiempirical method has been developed to estimate the static aerodynamics of configurations that use a trailing-edge flap for control. The method is based on deflecting the full aft-located lifting surface by an amount that allows the normal force coefficient to be equal to that generated by the deflected flap.

Robotic Trailing Edge Flap Drilling System

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2009
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The second generation of Electroimpact's ONCE robotic drilling system has been successfully deployed in production. The automated system for drilling and inspection of skins to substructure in trailing edge flaps comprises an off-the-shelf KUKA KR360 robot integrated with an Electroimpact process head, 7th axis ...
