Mapping the impacts of multiple stressors on the decline in kelps along the coast of Victoria, Australia

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 29, Issue 1, Page 199-220, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Aim Kelp forests throughout temperate regions of the world serve as foundation species that play a critical role in sustaining the health and function of marine ecosystems but are experiencing declines in abundance due to a loss in resilience as the ocean climate changes.

Aggregative oviposition varies with density in processionary moths—Implications for insect outbreak propensity

open access: yesEcological Entomology, Volume 48, Issue 1, Page 102-111, February 2023., 2023
In gregarious insects, groups commonly originate from females laying eggs in masses and feeding groups are established as soon as larvae hatch. Here we show that aggregative oviposition increases with population density at oviposition, and possibly be an important factor in outbreak dynamics of phytophagous insects.

Sneaky copulations by subordinate males suggest direct fitness benefits from male–male associations in spotted bowerbirds (Ptilonorhynchus maculatus)

open access: yesEthology, Volume 129, Issue 1, Page 55-61, January 2023., 2023
Resident male spotted bowerbirds tolerate the presence of non‐territorial, subordinate males at their display arenas. We report in this paper on four separate instances of sneaky copulations by subordinate males at adults' bowers. These novel observations suggest that subordinate males gain direct fitness benefits by associating with older bower owners
