An in-depot realtime train tracking system using RFID and wireless mesh networks

17th International IEEE Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSC), 2014
Knowing the real-time position of moving trains is critical for public transportation safety. To obtain the real-time train position, signal based, video based and sensor based solutions have been proposed. However, those solutions are either too expensive or only applicable for normal driving scenario.

Gear Train Mesh Efficiency Study: The Effects of an Anti-Backlash Gear

SAE International Journal of Commercial Vehicles, 2014
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">In recent years, the focus on engine parasitic losses has increased as a result of the efforts to increase engine efficiency and reduce greenhouse gasses. The engine gear train, used to time the valve system and drive auxiliary loads, contributes to the overall engine parasitic ...

Unstructured 3D Delaunay mesh generation applied to planes, trains and automobiles

31st Aerospace Sciences Meeting, 1993
Technical issues associated with domain-tessellation production, including initial boundary node triangulation and volume mesh refinement, are presented for the 'TGrid' 3D Delaunay unstructured grid generation program. The approach employed is noted to be capable of preserving predefined triangular surface facets in the final tessellation.

Meshing Efficiency Analysis of Two Degree-of-Freedom Epicyclic Gear Trains

Journal of Mechanical Design, 2016
The concept of potential power efficiency is introduced as the efficiency of an epicyclic gear train (EGT) measured in any moving reference frame. The conventional efficiency can be computed in a carrier-moving reference frame in which the gear carrier appears relatively fixed.

GEOMETRIC DESIGN OF ELEMENTARY PLANETARY GEAR TRAINS WITH GENERALIZED MESHING ELEMENTS

Transactions of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering, 2004
This work presents a novel concept of elementary planetary gear trains such that the tooth-profiles of the planet gear are generalized meshing elements. The pitch radius is kinematically replaced by the distance between the gear centre and the tooth centre. A program is developed to solve the conjugate surface equations, and to show the solid model of

Channel Maintenance by Training Structures: Guidance for Numerical Model Mesh Development

2023
Training structures used to control channel currents and sedimentation, which in the past were designed by rules of thumb, are now frequently the subject of numerical model investigations. The precision and stability of numerical models representing the shallow water equations and transport generally are strongly influenced by the nature of the ...
